Have you been able to test the webcam? I.e after installing the software did you see the webcam operating - green light etc, with a popup box showing you?

Turn off all programmes, anything on the desktop that looks like it could be running your webcam, live messaner, googletalk, skype etc,

From control panel, devices check the status - What message appears?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

That means another program is using the camera, but if you don't see any windows open with it, then a virus might be using it to watch you. If thats not the case you probably have a process using it, check the system tray and close anything that possibly can use a webcam. Then if it still doesn't work then restart the computer and if it still doesn't work reinstall the webcam software and/or the drivers for it.

Normal 0 Also send this to your family and friends so they have their computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
To install Windows Live Messenger, double click on this site to download then install. (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html )

Windows Live Messenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

I think there is one more start up program which automatically takes the camera use to itself.. for eg. Adobe, or some messengers. Try to delete startup items than it will work.

Acer Crystal Eye Webcam and MSN Messenger

Hi,
Make sure you are not running the Desktop Icon program first. The camera can only be used by one program at a time.
Now login to Messenger, and click
Tools > Audio and Video Setup, and click Next past the audio settings, and choose USB Video Device from the list. It should work after a couple of seconds. If that doesn't work, try the other device drivers from the list, waiting a couple of seconds each time, until you can see some output in the window. Then apply and you're ready to go.
It's the same deal with Skype, except it's in
Tools > Options > Audio Settings.

Hope this helps
