Question about HP LaserJet 9040n Printer

1 Answer

Flaws at top of each page when printing

Our HP Laserjet 9040n is about a year old and has been marking each page when printing with marks at the top of each page ( always five sqiggle-like marks about 5mm grey markings) at consistant distant apart on everypage.  I have done a cleaning page and we have taken out the rollers and given them a wipe but nothing has changed. It is consistant and prints these marks on every print out whcih we make.

Please help- this is very annoying since I work in a design environment and we need 'clean' print offs.

Re: Flaws at top of each page when printing

Replace toner cartridge drum is scratched

(Possibly by staple going threw machine if that what each of the five marks look like, all those removed staples always seem to end up in printers)

You can pull it out (I think right top cover opens and cartridge pulls up and to the right)  then .. turn it over and gently pull back cover see drum has same marks as you see on paper, you can gently rotate drum by using gear on edge do not force it only turns easy one way, Do not touch drum surface very delicate and sensitive. Normal disposable item buy a New cartridge here is HP part number for your model  HP C8543X (HP 43X) Toner Cart.

Hp p3005n trouble

Repetitive flaws in the printout can indicate problems with the fusing assembly, charging roller, image drum, paper feed rollers, or other parts. The key is to measure how far apart each print defect is as measured from the top of the page to the bottom. For example, if the distance between the first defect and the next is 3.75 inches, the problem is the image drum. You can find a list of the measurements at:

HP P3005 - skid marks along paper's edge

Print 3 pages. Use the manual feed tray. As they print, open the cover, remove the toner and look down at the paper in the printer. Do you see marks along the edge? If no...replace the fuser. If could be the transfer roller.

Laserjet 2300d

Probally fuser needs replacing, they come out easy it is a the hot bit at rear, these just click out after removing rear door, upper heat roller will be marked if this is causing your problem

Another way to tell if it is crtridge or fuser (tt is one of these two) is to stop a print half way by opening cover when paper is halfway threw insides of printer (timeing, timeing). Then pull out cart see paper under it that is printed but not yet fused (rubs off) if no mark present then it gets on paper when it goes threw fuser, if mark is present then it is the cart.
