Question about Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 for PC

Lost my programs

I did a system restore on my gateway 838 win xp Medi Center using the Factory Disc. I lost some of the preloaded software. I tried it several times but continued to get errors or lost programs.
I bought drive scrubber and used it to wipe the drive. I then used the Factory dics again..this time I lost even more programs and the fat32 drive.
I now have a NTF type drive and have downloaded my driver for the eternet, sound card and some others....why will it not reload my nero and my microsoft progams that came with the computer?

Thanks.

Hard drive for installing the Windows XP is default formated to be NTFS. however, you can forced it to format FAT32. then why? FAT32 cost more hard drive real estate, with less data storage.
as far as the lost programs, that yo have to ask Gateway, majority of the system restore disk restore the original OS, plus what ever the manufacture want you to have. the preloaded aplciaton software are trail, if you purchased the application during that time, you should have the serial number for that software. You need to contact the software verdor and give them the serial number they assign you at the time of purchase. otherwise, you have to purchase the software.

Most of the time manufacturers put preloaded software and the OS on different disks, do you have multiple cd's that came with it?

Have you tried wiping the hard drive before with success? Did it install some of the preloaded softwares, or none of them?

How to format/install SATA 2TB hard drive (BARRACUDA) in Gateway GT5098E, Win XP Media Center Edition 2005?

Windows XP doesn't support SATA. You will need to use a program such as Nlite to integrate sata drivers into a new Windows XP disc. Once you have a disc with sata drivers just boot to the disc and follow the prompts to format the drive.

Con I restore my HP M8200n to factory specs?

Sure if you have the restore disc if not you can get one from the factory. Or a Windows Operating System disc will also work as well. You will have to download driver files if your using XP disc. Win 7 works great for this type of situation loading drivers is easy with Win 7 recommend if you have the resources to handle it. John

Have a look in your manual, it will let you know where the rescue partition is, indeed if it is still intact.

why its not reading those disks is because the system is still there. To put it back to factory you will have to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the win operating system it came with. Any updates to the Win xp you have wont allow going back to begining as if it were a factory fresh/ or factory referb.
