SOURCE: I want to buy a high chair cover / pad for my grandaughter's new high chair but I want something a bit different. I don't mind paying more for it. Where should I look?

Have you tried the Etsy site? They have some really nice stuff - not the cheapest that's for sure, but definitely a bit different. This link shows a pink paisley design that I thought was gorgeous.

Tips on buying a highchair

When it comes to buying a high chair for your child there are several factors you must take into consideration including how easy it is to clean, your childs comfort, how to store the high chair (does it fold away), stability and price.

I have two children and for me the most important factor is by far how easily the high chair can be cleaned. I tend to lean towards chairs with machine washable trays. The chair we use is from Fisher Price and is a dream when it comes time to clean up. Here is a link to the product -

http://www.fisher-price.com/en_US/brands/babygear/products/56887

Next you should consider the comfort of your child. Look for a high chair with a cushion/padding on the seat. Your child will be sitting in the high chair for every meal so you should invest in a comfortable chair.

You should also consider ways in which you can store your childs high chair when not in use. If you do not have a lot of extra space, you may want to look for something that can fold up and be stored away.

Stability and safety are extremely crucial factors in selecting a high chair. Look for chairs with a wide base for immovability. I recommend finding a chair with secure waist and middle straps to ensure that your child is properly restrained.

Lastly, you will need to consider price. Find something that incorporates all of these features with your budget.

What are the different types of high chairs?

: There are four different types of high chairs: wood, plastic/metal, full-featured, and portable and hook on high chairs. Plastic high chairs are fairly simple, lightweight, and inexpensive. Wooden high chairs look nicer and are heavier. Full-featured high chairs have extra features like padded seats, detachable trays, and adjustable height. Portable and hook on high chairs are the cheapest type of high chairs and can be moved easily/be attached to the table.

What is a padded beach chair?

A padded beach chair is a high quality beach chair that's cushioned with foam to increase comfort. This type of chair is very beneficial if you're planning to sit around for a few hours because it will prevent unnecessary back pain that could be caused from long sitting hours on regular beach chairs.

How do you turn the high chair into booster seat?

I went to the site for this product, and from what I can see from the pictures posted there,
1. You keep the base of the seat strapped into the kitchen chair,
2. You remove the cloth/padded liner that you would use for a baby,
3. You adjust the angle of the inner seat so the toddler will be sitting in an upright position, and
4. You remove the tray and push the chair up to the table.
This should make the high chair the right height so the toddler can eat from a dish placed on the table.

I hope this helped you!gwings.jpg

Chicco Polly high chair - the padded cushion seat has torn in several places and the dirt and crumbs gather and rot!, can I buy a spare?

does the bottom of the seat have screws that you might be able to replace the foam padding from a craft store and buy vinyl there as well; like recovering a kitchen chair?
