My tefal keeps tripping elcb in fuse board what could be wrong

Next time it happens and it trips.. use a dry towel to unplug kettle, just in case.

Is the base wet? Check the kettle for cracks. Check the cable. Is it damaged? Try replacing the fuse in the plug. Is the steam that the kettle produces affecting lighting or other electrical items around it? Try moving the kettle to a different location.

Constantly producing steam

I do not recommend irons to be fixed. You cannot find spare parts (you have aged seal) and any kind of a fix can be dangerous on some stage, just because elecftricity and water are very bad combination in any aspect. To prevent yourself from electric shock or burning your house, just buy a new one. Be sure not only the seal is aged when you open the iron for repair, if you succeed with the strange shaped bolts. Then broken parts are hard to glue just because the iron is heating up above the point most of the glues can hold. So, spear your time, cut the cable and leave it on designated place for collecting electric rubbish. Then go for a new one.

Iron works for a little then electricity trips. why would this happen

You have a faulty and possibly a dangerous appliance. It could be a faulty/worn electrical cord. i suggest you get it checked out or throw it out and buy a new iron.

I have a gc7010 phillips generator iron it cuts the electric off after a couple of seconds. i have only changed the fuse and made sure that the plug is on ok. i cannot see anything wrong with the cable...

I am sorry to say that it sounds like the element when getting hot, expands and is shorting out the iron, and that is terminal I am afraid. Getting it mended, if it is not the element, depends on the initial price of the appliance and the cost of a less costly replacement. (As an afterthought, you do not see signs of a water leak from below the water tank?)

Does tha iron has a kind of relay for the automatic shut off? I have aSunbeam iron that does not warm up at all, the light on the top of the iron is on, but there is not power for the resistance

Hi,
It does have a thermic switch, but I don't beleive that's your problem. I guarantee you that the problem is a loose or broken wire.
Take the electrical cover screw(s) off and check the electrical cable connetion to the Iron's hot plate, usually they come loose or break because of the heat. Don't be fooled by the look of a normal looking wire, it may be broken inside. Feel the wires with your fingers, bend it, pull it and look for a bump or soft spot. The best way y to check continuity.
Good Luck

Blinks and doesn't heat.

Could be a loose connection or a damaged cable. Try gently moving the cable and see if it starts to blink etc?

How old is it? Is it still in warranty Guarantee? If it is, take it back to where you bought it from and they should repair it or replace it.

Failing that you may have to buy a new one. Wallmart or similar have cheap electrical appliances

When i am ironing all the power in the house goes off and it is a brand new iron

Patrick,
The iron may actually be ok. If not, remember that because it's new it will come with a guarantee.

Did you put the plug onto the iron yourself? Check inside the plug to make sure that there's no bare wires that can touch as the cord flexes as you iron. This would cause it to short and throw the power in the house.

Try using the iron in a different room. If you get the same problem then there's possibly a wiring fault (maybe a broken/worn insulation on the wires of the iron cord ... though as it's new, I would doubt this).

Are you using an electrical extension lead to plug the iron into? If you haven't overloaded the socket with other electrical appliances it may be that the extension cable has a broken/faulty/loose wire inside that when they touch, causes the power to go off. A few years ago the power in my house used to go off on occasions whenever someone went to the fridge. The fault was traced to split insulation on one of the wires in the extension cable I was using. Whenever somebody stood on the cable it shorted out and cut the power.

To be really sure - go into a neighbours and use the iron! If the power goes off - it's the iron at fault. If not, it's probably just a small problem like worn insulation/loose/broken wire in an extension lead in your own house.
