They are not too bad if the bearing/hub assy is not frozen into the aluminum steering knuckle. They are held in with 3 13mm bolts from the back side.Remove the front wheel on the side in question, remove the brake caliper, brake bridge, pads, remove the axle nut 36mm(big socket required here)once you have all this removed remove the 3 13mm bolts tha retain the hub/bearing to the steering knuckle by hammering downward on the hub, don't worry if you tear it up come with new one.If you dont see it coming apart after 10-15 blows with a large hammer it maybe siezed up.Then you will need to hit alot hard or heat the knuckle. But be carefull the knuckle is aluminum.hope this helps

I have a knocking noise, that sounds like it is coming from the right side of the engine. I took it to the dealership and they told me the oil was low and that it should take care of the noise, it didn't....

TWO mechanics and they can't identify the problem, just throw parts at it? This could be caused by many things. If the noise occurs all the time, i.e. even when idling, that's something in the engine. Try this: using a LARGE (say 12" long) screwdriver, place the tip on the engine, and the handle on your ear. The screwdriver acts like a stethoscope. You may be able to locate the noise location more precisely. If the noise is a light ticking, that could be a worn or maladjusted tappet. If its a heavy and loud knock, its something more serious. Loose front pulley bolts, AC compressor failure, loose alternator bolts all come to mind. Look for a local expert on your make of car, obviously NOT the dealer.

2002 Saturn Vue V6 AWD sounds like an F1 car when i drive it. Very loud constant noise. Checked trans fluid and it was fine.

I have a 2002 saturn vue. Same thing..sounded like a jet engine ...loud humming as I accelerated . It got increasingly worse. It turned out to be the front wheel bearings. Replace them, now the noise is half as loud...have to do the rears also! 93,000 miles on it. Also, don't forget to replace the timing belt. It it goes too long and breaks, it will trash the engine...

My camry is making a loud whining noise. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was probably the front bearings. The noise only happens when the wheels are spining. My question is how do I replace these....

Hi there. Most, if not all front wheel bearings these days are pressed into the front wheel hub assembly and to replace these is not normally a DIY job. Because new bearings need to be pressed into the hub assembly, a machine shop press ought to be used and the job undertaken by competent individuals. My advice if you do intend undertaking the work yourself is to remove the hub assembly and then have a machine shop operative remove the old bearings and have the new bearings pressed-in for you. Hope this helps, Scottech.

I Have a 2004 Saturn vue ,there is a squeely noise

I would suspect the wheel bearing, as these start to fail they tend to make more noise in one direction of load than the other.

I just had my wheel bearings replaced on both right and left sides in the front of my 2002 saturn vue. My vue sounds very loud when I am driving. What is it?

Vues are bad for having all hub bearings make noise, check your rear ones.Or the ones you didn't have replaced. If it's all wheel drive check the propshaft center carrier bearing.Common to fail & make noise.hope this helps

I have an 03' vue with same problem. I took it to my garage, and found out it was indeed the strut. My mechanic told me that vues have issues with struts, and wheel bearings. You may want to have your struts checked.
