Powersteering pump will not shut off

The power steering pump on any vehicle always runs the entire time that engine is running. If it is noisy, the internal components may be damaged and should probably be replaced as a unit.

I own a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2003 CRD 2.7 Diesel. My problem: I drove one hot day and my powersteering just dissapeared. I have replaced new powersteering pump, checked my new fanbelt, but my powersteering...

if you've replaced the power steering pump to no avail, then i would look towards a bad power steering rack. the rack could be clogged or just a bad power steering rack, located under the jeep. at the center of the front end under the motor, just to rear of the engine.do you see it leaking at any point? if the pumps good, then i would go to the rack next.however i can suggest this if you choose to.these guys are great about helping people, call 1-865-691-3400 it's just jeeps

My steering wheel kinda moans or moos when im driving slow and turning im thinking its the powersteering pump but havent investagated

It is the pump, but you are most likely low on powersteering fluid. Run down to the parts store, p/u so fluid and top it off.

Hope this helps.

Driving a 2003 Ford windstar. Went to pass and

Very common on this make and model trans, pump drive splines inside torque converter strip out and pump is not turning, Most times there is no damage to pump shaft. Remove trans and remove torque converter, inspect the splines at the very bottom of the hub hole. If stripped out inspected pump shaft splines which are the smaller center splines coming out of trans, if ok replace torque converter and re-install trans, change out fluid, clean any metal from magnet and replace filter, fill with fluid and verify proper operation.

How do i remove the Powersteering pump in my 1998

Replace the ps pump, brake fluid is not a lubricant, your pump is scored, raise the van, block it, remove the sheild, belt and right axle, and remove the pump, you will have to flush the system with 4-5 litres of PS fliud only. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP

Power Steering Pump Leaks

call a Ford dealership and give them the VIN of your car and they will let you know if there is a recall on it. the only thing you do to replace it is you take the belt off and remove the line from the pump and take it off but once you put the new pump on and fill with powersteering fluid turn the wheel back and forth left to right to get the air out of the system
