SOURCE: singer 2010 doesn't want to stop

I have a Singer Merritt 4530.  I don't know if the foot pedal works the same way on your model, but on mine it is held together not by screws or latches, but simply by white plastic rods that serve as hinges.  These rods have a hole drilled in their center, presumably so some special tool can be used to pull them out.  Lacking a special tool, I glued a nail into the hole, and once the glue dries you can pull the nail and pull the rod out with it.  The rod is about an inch long and held in place merely by friction - no glue or screw threads.  Once one rod is removed, you should be able to slide the pedal off of the rod on the other side, though that might have only worked because some of the plastic housing was cracked on mine.  If you don't want to take the time to test that, just glue a nail into both rods and pull them both out.
Once you get the pedal open, mine had a giant white cylinder that looks kind of like a battery or a fuse.  This thing was getting very hot the longer the pedal was left plugged in.  I read on many web sites that this object can cause overheating or short circuit the pedal so it's always sewing.  It's called a suppressor and can be safely thrown away.  I haven't found an explanation for precisely what it does or why it can be safely thrown away, but I theorize it's a surge suppressor and that most modern wiring isn't going to surge too much.  I got rid of it and the pedal still works and doesn't overheat.  It may be safest to plug the machine into a surge-protected power strip once the suppressor is gone - just my theory.

SOURCE: just bought a used model singer 6233 need to know

Should be on the right side in a recessed portion just above the bottom of the machine. You can see it here without paying for the manual: http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Manuals/Singer_Manuals/Singer_1000&UP/6233_Instruction_Manual.htm

The Singer 6233 was one of the models that briefly were made using air-powered foot controls. So you aren't looking for a traditional electrical connection. Instead, your pedal cord's female end will connect onto a black male nipple, that sticks out on the right side of the machine (the side with the handwheel). Just push it on until it feels snug.

Hi, My Quantum 9960, needs the bobbin refilled, but the machine shows me an icon of the foot paddle, then an icon of machine and conect? cord. The cord is connected, I've tried it 3x. Don't know what to...

Is there an up arrow in the icon you see? What you describe could be the Release foot controller pedal icon. Take your foot off the foot pedal. See the trouble-shooting page on page 102 of the manual. The manual is available from Singer here: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/5b9200a32cfd31ffc30b8d29fd195a57dff4a9e3.pdf .

You are supposed to take your foot off the controller (or press Stop) after winding a few turns of thread on the bobbin. Trim the excess thread above the bobbin. Then step on the foot controller or press Start. Release the foot pedal again when the machine stops winding the bobbin. See page 28 of the manual for the procedure.

I hope this helps. If you do not have the Release foot controller icon displayed, please add a longer description of the icon or indicate which icon from the trouble-shooting section of the manual that is closer to the one you see. If you have released the foot controller and the icon persists, then something may be wrong with the control pedal. A replacement control pedal is ~$35; see http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/singer-9960-quantum-stylist-parts.aspx .

Have you tried using a new foot pedal? I think it would be worth the the money because moving parts tend to go bad before internal stationary ones. Amazon com Singer Sewing Machine Foot Pedal Everything Else

Machine ran on when pedal when released, pedal now no longer works and machine wont sewing more than one layer of fabric without getting jammed

How are you making it run now since the pedal doesn't work?
You probably should take it to a repairman/shop. When this happens, sometimes the pedal is shorting out and it kills the pedal and you will need to buy a new pedal. When it ran by itself, it might have either gotten a piece of material or thread caught in the shuttle or it might have knocked the machine "out of time" and you will need to have it put back in time so that it will run properly again. I don't know what the prices are in your area but I would imagine that it will all run about $125. Sometimes you can get a used pedal off ebay (check to make sure that the configuration of the plug is the same). Good Luck.

well if the foot pedal isn't working, you can either replace it with a new one or take the machine to a sewing machine repair shop & let them check the foot pedal & see if it's fixable

The pedal from the White Sewing 1888 machine no longer works. I have found a white sewing machine 1418 online- would the pedal from that machine work in the 1888 machine? Thanks. Look foreword to your...

The White 1888 uses the FDM KD-1902 foot pedal. I can't find a part number for the 1418 control. It looks like they should be compatible based on the control plug end though.

This site has a universal controller that claims to be compatible with both machines: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/foot-control-and-cord-universal-419451-003.aspx .

Singer has the manuals for both White machines for download. The direct links are http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1075_white-1418-x.pdf and http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/993_white-1788,1888-x.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Singer 7462 sewing machine

There is two seperate cords on this machine. A power cord and a pedal cord. If you put the power cord in and switch the machine on, and then remove the pedal cord it should give you a beeping sound, which shows you the connection does work.

Please give me feedback in order to help you
