Question about HP Compaq Presario v3000z Notebook
Hey. a little help here. i'm having problems reformatting my laptop because i don't have a cd. :| plus, my laptop has a trojan virus and i think the virus is kinda stopping me from downloading antivirus programs from any site. this virus is also preventing me to use some of my programs. kindly help me please, THANKS! :D
First youll need a cd the same as the one thats on your computer now. find someone you know and borrow theirs, just make sure that you have your product key that came with your computer, it should be on a sticker thats attached to your computer.
once you require another cd, start your computer up and load it in your computer and then shut it down and restart, it should start to load automatically, if it doesnt youll have to go into setup and change your boot settings.
when you begin loading your new operating system make sure your delete the existing drive or you wont get a complete hard drive format, dont worry it will automatically put your c: drive back where it belongs.
if you need more help let me know, but be specific about your problem.
good luck and would you please leave your feedback

If you have the recovery cd, you can just pop-in the CD, select the reformat option and the installation process will continue automatically. Some laptop might have a special partition in the drive contains the operating system, drivers, etc. in case you want to reformat your laptop without the CD.
If you don't have the recovery CD, you usually can request one from the manufacturer. Otherwise, if you want to do a clean install, make sure you download all the drivers for your laptop, this may includes: motherboard, chipset, graphic card, sound card, modem, network card. Once you do that, put in the OS CD and start installing.
If you decided to do a clean install without the recovery CD, it would be best to create partition on your harddrive first, so you can have dedicated partition for operating system and backup. The next time you want to reformat your harddrive, you can just reformat that particular partition ex. C:\
