In user tools there is a maintance button press and then try color reg adjustment. If it doesn't sink color back in alignment it will say fail will need to call a tech . Could be anything from transfer unit bar that is shiny usually toward exit side cake with toner to laser failure
According to the HP Service manual, there is no 54.18 error.
The listed errors are:
54.1 Temperature error Check the fuser. See 50.X fuser error. 54.3 Image density sensor error Check the connections. Replace the color registration detection assembly. 54.5 Colour registration sensor error Check the connections. Replace the color registration detection assembly. 54.6 Image density error Check the connections. Replace the color registration detection assembly. 54.7(Y), 54.8(M), 54.9(C), or 54.10(K) Drum phase sensor error Check the connections. Replace the drum phase sensor for the indicated color. 54.11(K), 54.12(C), 54.13(M), or 54.14(Y) Toner sensor error Check the connections. Check the cartridge and replace it if necessary. Replace the color registration detection assembly. 54.19 Transfer Belt error Check the ETB connection. Replace the ETB. Replace the DC controller.
It is most likely that you have a faulty Toner Cartridge.
Make sure you have the latest Firmware installed on your printer, this can be found at HP.COM/SUPPORT/CLJ2605. It sounds as though the problem you are experiencing is Colour Pane Registration problems. If you have the latest Firmware, then tryturning on Registration (Configure Device>Print Quality>Optimize) and perform 3 calibrations in a row. If the calibrations take more than a few minutes each, check the error log (Diagnostics>Print error log) for any CPR errors. You may need a replacement Laser unit.
When you get to registration mode, press enter, then execute will appear, then press enter. Then display will say adjusting. Remember magenta, cyan and yellow register to black. If registration is still bad you need to remove the four drums and transfer belt. To the left you will see a plastic move it to the left and you will see a white plastic with two sensor one at each end. This clear plastic get dirty and then you have bad registration. Clean it with a Q-tip. This two sensors are locate just below the left of the transfer belt, one at each side. This usually get dirty with residue of toner.
