Buttons won't work

I have a pioneer DEH-P410 Head unit in my car. The buttons stopped working. It still displays the time and track for the CD and plays the CD. I cleaned the contacts on the back of the faceplate, but it still won't work.

In the top right corner of the display is a small button that you push in and the face will drop down, this is for putting a cd into the unit and also for taking the face off. Once the face has dropped down you just pull it off. It will come right out. To put it back on again just place it back into the holder with the right side going in first and push it until it clicks into place. It doesn't take a lot of force to put it on or to take it off. If you are still having problems with it you may need to take it in for repair. But usually if the face is having problems with how it is attached, the problem is that the face will not stay on.

SOURCE: Another one with Faceplate buttons not working?

The capacitors in these plates tend to burn out quickly for being so hot and lack of air cooling circulation. You can test all connection pins on the deck and faceplate with an ohmmeter in ohm setting to see which pins is not sending 25-30 ohms or 5 volts of power

It sounds like you may have a bad switch. If you have a multimeter you can check the switches for resistance. If the reading on any of the switches is less than a few megaohms it is probably bad.

This is the mode for setting the time on the unit’s clock display. (Refer to page 51 for

As soon as you switch to “Minute”, the seconds start counting from 00.
1. Press the FUNCTION button and select the Time setting mode in the InitialSetting Menu
always select “OFF”.

2. Select “Hour” or “Minute”
with the < / > buttons.

3. Set as desired with the ^ / v

Changing the time pioneer DEN2000MP

The solution that worked for me is:

1) turn off the radio.
2) Push and hold the power button down (the dial). DON'T release the button.
3) The unit will display the time on the lcd screen with the numbers flashing, (only hr or min).
4) use the up/dwn, right/left buttons to set the clock.
5) turn off the unit by pushing the power button (again, the dial).

That is it. the clock should be set.

Hope that helps,

Cant change the time

I don't have the manual, but I can tell you how to set the clock. This was a doozy to find out exactly how to do this! This technique probably will work with most other Pioneer receivers too.

Either start your car or turn the ignition key to the ACC position (so that the radio is receiving power). With the radio/CD turned off, press and hold the function button (the one in the upper right hand corner) for about 5 seconds, the hours on the clock should start to blink. Use the volume +/- buttons to change the hour, use the track up/down buttons to switch from hour to minutes. Press the power button to get the new time to set.

Changing the time

Here's a link to the manual Pioneer's web site.

Here's how you set the time (from page 16 in the manual):

1: press SOURCE and hold until the unit turns off.
2: Press AUDIO repeatedly until the clock appears in the display
3: Press (left arrow) or (right arrow) to select the segment of the clock display you wish to set (hours, minutes)
4: Press (up arrow) or (down arrow) to set the clock.

- To cancel clock settings, press BAND
- to save clock settings press AUDIO until the display stops blinking
