Is it asking for the USB Control driver? or asking for the driver of the hardware item your plugging in.

Device cannot start code 10 message

If your system is displaying code 10 or "the device cannot start" error messages, resolve the problem with a little troubleshooting.
These messages arise when your computer does not recognize universal serial bus (USB) devices.
Faulty USB devices or malfunctioning drivers are common causes of a unrecognized USB device. It is important to detect and repair the underlying issue to prevent serious harm to your personal computer.

Plug the USB device into another computer.
If the alternate computer displays the code 10 error, there is a problem with the USB device.
Return the device or purchase another one.
Plug the new device into your system. Make sure the code 10 error does not appear.
Click "Start" and right-click "Computer."
Select "Manage" and click "Continue" if the "User Account Control Prompt" appears. Open "Device Manager."
Select the faulty USB device.
Notice a yellow exclamation warning next to it.

Right-click the faulty USB device driver and select "Update Driver Software."
Allow the driver to update.

Right-click the faulty USB device driver and click "Uninstall."
Exit the Device Manager.
Restart the computer.
Allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.
Ensure that the USB device is working correctly.
If you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers should be on it.

Windows XP/Vista/7/8

it might take some time being a freeware driver solution
Note: it will find all of your outdated drivers

This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point.

Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated.

When I go to Record there is no sound and the control panels do not move

Make sure the correct source is selected for sound in audio properties (Right click the volume icon near the clock). The device must be the turntable driver.

Make sure you have installed the Numark software BEFORE you plugged in the turntable to your computer for the first time.

If you have done the faux pas above, all the installs in the world will not fix it. You MUST remove the USB driver. Use Device Manager. In XP, this is found by right clicking my computer and selecting properties. In properties select the hardware tab and choose 'Device Manager'.

Stop here. If you have no idea what I wrote, review 'Device Manager' on the Windows Website or ask a KNOWLEDGABLE friend for help. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123.

Now, select the USB device, while it is plugged in to the USB port, and right click. Select 'Uninstall'. Remove your USB device when device manager is done.

Close Device manager and all the other windows. Start your USB install from scratch, without the USB plugged in until the install asks or completes.
I have ALWAYS had successful installs with this method.

How do you get the simpletech external hard drive to store information, and how do you know when it is stored?

Plugging in a USB device before installing the driver disk is the most common USB mistake people make.
An external hard drive, driver properly installed, looks just like a normal hard drive in 'My Computer'. Use it like a hard drive.
If you cannot see it in My Computer when it is plugged in (Go ahead, unplug it and reconnect while My Computer is open) then the driver is loaded wrong. A wrong driver needs to be removed with 'Device Manager', the USB drive DISCONNECTED, the driver reinstalled and the device plugged in at the end or when it is asked for by the installer, not windows (unless it does not have an install disk)
Poof, you can see the disk as a hard drive in My Computer.
See 'Device Manager' on the Internet for help with this.

I bought a Tv Crative usb2.02 TV Box which supposed to have a Trident Video Usb driver but my computer comes up with usb device mailfunction and windows does not reconize it What do I do? It will go on...

As with any USB problem, our first port of call is Device manager, now Uninstall the entire thing ALL the USB, after that Reboot, wait until at desktop next, wait for a few minutes, NOW, install ANY/ALL software that came with your device, Reboot, DO NOT plug in your USB device UNLESS ASKED, Reboot, now when at desktop next time, wait again a few min's and THEN, plug in your USB device, you should hear the familiar, Dong, Dong, and it will install itself, it may ask where the "Drivers" are, if so, point it to them, and it will/should proceed, after which, still connected Reboot, NOW this time, you should be able to use your device. DO NOT miss any steps. especially the rebooting ones.

Continuation!!!problem

As strange as it may seem, i have seen USB devices work one time and then be dead the next time you plug it in. I would try to connect it to another computer Or another USB plug on your current computer. If that doesn't work, You might try removing the driver for this device (if it has a driver for your MP3 player) and reinstall it. If when you connected it the first time the computer did not ask you to install a driver then the operating system already has the driver installed for your device.

Good Luck!

Ipod doesnt connect to my pc/i cant download

I had a very similar problem with a USB camcroder, drove me crazy! This sounds like a USB device4.gif not being recognized, this issue is rather uncommon with XP, it's not the player or device, unless the device is not working proplerly. 9 out of 10 times it's system device manager.

(Solution)
With the device plugged into the USB go to control panel and click on system and navigate to your device manager hardware>device manager, scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers, there should be either an X or an exclamation mark indicating the device/driver is not loaded properly, right click on that line and chose uninstall driver, reboot then plug the device in, if it asks for a driver then put in the CD and let the driver install it. If this still does not work, then repeat the above but instead of choosing uninstall when you right click choose "update driver" and when it asks for a location to the driver, point it to the driver on the CD.

Hope this helps
