My laptop HP Pavillion ZV6000, battery started decreasing and wouldn't charge when the ac adapter was connected. I purchased another ac adapter thinking that was my problem. It didn't work. Now I have purchased a new battery, do you think that will fix my problem? My laptop will not even power on now, when I try to turn the power button on a lightening bolt flashes blue. What is that? If the batter doesn't fix the problem, what should I do next?

- I bought another ac adapter and it didn't fix the problem.
As others have said, the most common fault with the ZV series is the power socket. However, you mentioned the Lightning Bolt. This indicates that the battery is being charged and it should go out as soon as the battery is fully charged.
If the Lightning Bolt flashes on and off regularly, especially when the power cable is moved, then the socket is at fault and needs replacing.
You can check to see if the battery is receiving a charge by doing the following
1. Right Click the Desktop
2. Click Properties
3. Click the Screen Saver tab
4. Click the Power button
5. Click the Power Meter tab
This will tell you the computer's current power source and whether the battery is charging.
I have replaced several of these sockets on ZV5000s and I'm sure the 6000 will be similar. I would not recommend this job for anyone without technical knowledge, despite some of the websites that say you can do it yourself. You will need to strip the entire laptop down and all but remove the motherboard before the socket can be replaced.
The AC jack probably went bad. Find someone who can fix it, if its worth it.
Thats about it.

- Yes, thats what I was saying the jack on the motherboard itself can go bad. I have a friend who had same problem with a Toshiba. He just parted it out. But The right person could fix it, if its new enough to be worth fixing. Cost?

The scroll bar on my HP pav zv5000 does not work. I have looked at the solutions shown on your website and have saved the alps driver to my desktop (and also ran the driver installation programme) but nothing happens although the installation appears to complete. At no time did the driver appear on the device manager list under mouse controls, all I have there is the synaptics driver. How do I get the alps driver to place itself in the drivers list and to take priority over the synaptics driver?
