Reset bios

When you say you "reset" the bios, what do you mean? Did you try to upgrade the bios firmware, and now the machine isn't working? Or is this a machine with a backup copy of the bios, and you were trying to restore from that? Or...did you go into the bios administration and use the "set all values to default" dialog to set everything back to the factory defaults?

We probably need to start back with why you were "resetting" the bios to begin with. So fill me in!

Toshiba m50-mx2 powers up okay but no display

when you have the memory in and you boot up does it look like the hard drive LED is flashing? If so then its booting up into windows and that would mean a bad Display. If nothing happens then try a different stick of good RAM and see if it boots up then, if still nothing then it sounds like a bad motherboard.

Ok i have a emachine c2280 we put a new power supply changed the ram and i have no video, there is also a red light next to the ram what isit..

Anytime. Just in case you there is any way you can get video to display. There is a setting in bios to change what controls the display adaptor. You might want to try to reset your bios and see if you can change this setting. Figure there is nothing you can hurt at this point.

Just remove the "watch battery" that is on the motherboard for a couple minutes and try to start the computer. Also you might want to look for some pins on the board that say something about bios reset jumpers. Normally you short the two pins then remove and boot. Sometimes you short-boot-shutdown-unshort-boot again.
I'm thinking though if you can get in there you can set your display to pci or agp or whatever kind of video card you have.

can you push the f2 or delete key when first starting computer, If you get a bios screen you want to reset the computer to factory settings just follow the directions in the bios to reset to factory default, You may also want to try the Blue FN key lower left hand side, and the f8 key at the same time let me know if that works for you

Computer wont boot

This is a memory detection fault. Remove and reseat memory, try one at a time. If no joy then reset the bios at the JBAT1 terminal put jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 for a few seconds then back to pins 1-2. Restart your pc hopefully then set time and date in standard bios settings and check hard disk is recognised.
