Re: Part of [icture missing

Brand name & model number would be helpful.

Have you tried reset or re-boot by unplugging the ac cord

for awhile, then plug back in,try again?

Is it under warranty or did you receive it second-hand??

Let me know....T.

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV Last week the picture on the left and right of the screen started to go purple. It was about 2 inches from the outside that it did it. It went back to...

It is most likely a degaussing issue - replace the PTC thermistor (this is usually a 3-pin device located near the fuse in the power supply board; each has a different part number for different TV models and tube sizes) - check for dry solder joints on it first though, if they are intact, note the part number, as well as its reference on the PCB, order a replacement, fit it (they usually only fit one way on the board). I doubt this model uses electronic degaussing so the part itself should be easy enough to get hold of.

It might also be a good idea to borrow an electric degaussing wand from a workshop as well if you can, to fully remove the extraneous magnetic fields around the tube. This should hopefully solve your purity problem.

Need to identify zena diode D513for JVC model #AV-20F702

Hi: I am asumming you are talking about a zener diode. The only way to identify one is by the electronics symbol on the board in question. Regular diodes symbols have an black arrow symbol with a line across the top of the arrow, on the other hand a zener diode has the same black arrow but the line aross the top of the arrow is staggered or crooked, sort of like the letter Z turned on its side.

Panasonic ct-32sl13g blowing fuse by power supply

You will need to remove the back of the TV. Don't worry, it's not that bad.

There are 4 screws across the top, one on each side, one right next to where the power cord goes into the back of the case, and the two more by all of the video connections **These are the most important to remove because they attach the main board to the back of the case.

Once you have remove the screws then the entire back of the set will slide off. If you look where the power cord attaches to the board you will see a small fuse. This is a 6.3 Amp 125 volt fuse. You can replace it with a 6.3 Amp 250 volt fuse from your local Radio Shack. A four pack costs between $3 and $5.

Make sure that you check that it works before putting it all back together. Check for any loose connection cables while you're back there. I found a few when I did this.

Good luck!

TV Picture is tinted pink

depending on how much you paid for the tv , the cost of the repair may be more than the tv is worth. but if this is a large tv , then the repair would be most likely worth it

Black square

If the picture can be seen on the sides of the black square you need to go to the menu and find the text and turn it off
Usually in the closed caption section

Black bar on screen

The text mode in the closed caption is turned on.Turn off the closed caption. I don't have the schematic in front of me, so, I will wing it. There may be a button on the remote that says CC, if so then use that button to turn it off, if not then go to the service menu and you may have to search a bit. Either way it's an easy fix and you can do it yourself. If you can't find it, then, reply and I will give better instructions when I get into my shop next week.

Picture deterioration

Your whole problem my freind is dryed up capacitors. You should go, if you have the technical ability to replace these capacitors, to, download the schematic diagram, and start replacing the waveshaper capacitors in the vertical drive circuit.
