The old style hayword heater does not have a temp setting or aqua link. Reostat is turned all the way up.

Raypak model 130a only heats water to 90 degrees

Check the temperature sensor for resistance (ohms).
Temperature
(deg. F) 61 68 70 77 86 88 95 104 106
(k ohms) 14.92 12.49 11.88 10.00 8.06 7.69 6.53 5.33 5.10

If your ohms are below about 7K the heater thinks the water is hotter than it actually is, so it shuts down. It's a fairly common repair.

I have an Aqualink system, spa set to 104, it will heat to 94 and stay there, temp sensor is working, took water sensor out of line, plugged line, assumed heater would just keep heating, it did heat a

The heater may be wired just fine. The aqualink uses its water temp sensor to call for heat based on what you've set the thermostat to on the aqualink. However, most heaters have built in thermostats that over-ride the aqualink. Those thermostats come factory defaulted not to go over 94. Check your heaters manual on how to adjust the thermostat on the heater. Your heater should have its thermostats set to 104 and the aqualink will control the actual temp of the water by calling for heat based on what you've set the thermostat on the aqualink for. Hope this helps.

When the setting is at 104 my spa only heats to 98 i have a pentair mini max

Hi there.

You probably don't want health advice ... but ... well ... Im going to give you some anyway cause ... it is my dime. 104 degrees is not only very expensive to maintain ... it is also dangerous at exposure levels in excess of 15 minutes for ADULTS -- IF YOU ARE IN GOOD HEALTH. Less time if you are in less than perfect health. For children, deadly! I am not interested in what your neighbor may have told you - believe me when I tell you children in a hot tub near that temp is big trouble. Please don't do this.

Ok, your machine MAY have a internal safety that will not allow you to heat the water more than 98 degrees. It may require a professional to change that internal setting. It may also be that your heater is not capable of heating that amount of water to that temperature.

Did you or someone calculate the heat requirement and loss for your body of water? Do you know how many gallons of water you are heating and what is the BTU rating of your boiler? Gas, Oil or Electric?

If you can get me this additional information, Id be glad to do a calculation for you.

HI I have my hot tub at 104 but it will only heat up to about 80 degrees. what is my problem

If its set at 104, but only heats to around 80 degrees, then your heater is not working. Either the heating element is bad, or the pressure switch is not closing. The reason why the water heats up to 80 degrees, is from the friction caused by the mechanical shaft seal when the pump is running. Either way, you should really have it checked by a qualified spa technician. It is not something that the average spa owner can normally repair themselves. Sorry.

Minimax pool heater cuts out at 91 degrees when remotely set for

Turn the temp set knobs on the front of the heater all the way up do both pool & spa temp.
If that doesn't help flip the selector switch on the front of the heater the pool temp. This switch doesn't control what heats up Pool or spa it just selects the heater on and which thermistat to use
