Question about HP Officejet Pro L7680 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Third party ink problems

I'm using a re-manufactured ink jet cartridge from Concord Supplies. It's worked well for about three months, and now I'm getting an error message that says "The following ink cartridge(s) are not intended for use in this printer, please see printer documentation." Like I said, it worked well for three months with this ink, I've used the re-manufactured ink cartridges before and one day it just stopped. It won't print or fax, but I can still scan. Not sure what to do to fix it.

L7680 ebay ink cartridge refillable. Put it in and get the missing or damaged cartridge error for K (black). I've pulled the circuit board on the right side of the unit and removed the CR2032 memory backup battery and left it out. Clock went away but it still gives the error.

I'm fed up with HP printers as of now. I've had them for literally 20+ years and this is it. It is a scam to get you to buy thier ink.

For those that are interested the battery is on the lower section of the main circuit board on the right side of the printer about 2 or three inches behind the USB connector on the front panel.

The only solution is to replace the inks, I myself use refilled inks on a regular basis, generally when this error comes up you can't override it like the ink low warnings.

Chances are you have a bad chip on the cartridge, they do tend to fail from time to time even on the genuine ones. I haven't heard of Concorde before but if you've had good luck with them in the past I wouldn't hold this against them.

Where and How to Buy Cheap Ink

The aftermarket for printer ink can be a tricky place to shop. Third-party cartridges cost less than the manufacturers' brands--which is why people buy them. But it can be a lot harder to tell whether a third-party vendor sells high-quality ink products.
One time-tested method is to shop at an established retailer (online or brick-and-mortar) that guarantees the quality of its products. Obvious examples include office supply chains such as 123Inkjets, Cartridge World, Office Depot, Office Max, and Staples, all of which carry third-party ink cartridges.
But finding third-party ink for your specific printer model can be a challenge, particularly if your unit is very new, very old, or not very popular. Before driving around town to find the right cartridge, do a little homework online. At today's insane gas prices, you could end up spending $20 on fuel just to save $10 on an ink cartridge.
Like the online arms of other major retailers, Staples.com has an Ink & Toner Finder. Click the link for to find a decent assortment of third-party supplies for Brother, Canon, and Lexmark printers. If you find compatible ink, you can buy it online or check with your local outlet to see whether it has the product in stock.
If you're dealing with a vendor that you haven't used before, ask questions. A reputable online ink retailer will provide names and contact information for the ink manufacturers that it buys its supplies from.
When shopping for remanufactured cartridges, ask the third-party supplier how thoroughly it inspects used cartridges before refilling them. "Do they look for cracks? Do they test the electrical characteristics of the cartridge? A cartridge can look fine but have a broken electrical component, and then it won't work," says Tricia Judge of the International Imaging Technology Council. The vendor should also test the cartridge after the refill, Judge adds.
For our latest in-depth coverage of the pros and cons of printer manufacturers' inks versus third-party inks, see our feature article, "Cheap Ink: Will It Cost You?" and the related slide show, "Head-to-Head: Printer Manufacturers' Ink vs. Cheap Third-Party Ink." HP Laser Jet 4200 PCL 5 printer is printing a black smudged line down the side. I changed the toner?not helping.

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled (the absolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Please do not for a minute beleive that Epson endorses or allows the use of refilled ink cartridges or third party cartridges. It is just not true.

The check print cartridge light was flashing so I replaced the colour cartridge but the light is still flashing - and E is showing against copies

NO,
FYI- reman ink & toner can not damage a printer. If someone says they are using a third party cartridge, hp looks no further & blame the cartridge. If you say you are using theirs, amazing how they will figure it out & it turns out to be the printer. Honestly, why would anyone ever say they are using a third party. End of subject!
Yes, I have experienced this in person!!
