When you turn on comp., you can have a picture on monitor about 10-30 min. and that go in black screen, or If you change resolution again go in black screen.

what is your monitor is it lcd or crt? is the power on indicator of the monitor lights up? which is usually a color green, if it lights up, try to reset the vga cable of your monitor to the video card of your pc and this time do it tightly but not too tight.
