SOURCE: ice dispenser spring in door

There should be two slots in the bottom of the panel. Use a screwfriver to pop this out. You will have to unscrew the electrical panel to expose the dispenser area. Be wure to unplug the unit first and be careful not to break any wires.

SOURCE: water dispenser lever (where you push the cup in) has popped out

I made the repairs by the seat of my pants and --yes, it's all fixed now. It sure would've been easier if I could've removed the face plate to the control panel to get access to the problem underneath. I hope I solved your other user's problem with the water dispenser.

SOURCE: can anyone tell me the trick on taking off the

Insert a butter knife between the dispensor grate and the dispensor cover about 1 " from the side and push inward , to unsnap the plastic clip on each side (at the bottom) . Then lift upward , to unhook the top portion of the dispensor cover . There should be a single plug to disconnect to completely remove cover . FIRST , remove the top freezer hinge cap and disconnect the plug there , as this will disconnect the electricity going to the dispensor and avoid any electrifying experience .

Hey friend, thank you for your inquiry!

From my understanding you were replacing the water dispenser on your Frigidaire refrigerator and the ribbon cable disconnected. I would suggest a generic search online for any additional information regarding the ribbon cable. I was unable to locate that information for you. Additionally, if you continue to have problems I would consult with a professional technician for proper attachment of the cable. Best of luck! -Matt

Dtergent dispencer does not open

Dispenser Lever

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser lever might need to be replaced.

Detergent Dispenser Cover

If the detergent dispenser cover is broken and the detergent dispenser doesn't work, the dispenser assembly should be replaced.

Wax Motor Actuator

If the dispenser will not release the detergent the actuator connected between the wax motor and the dispenser might be broken. Check the wax motor actuator and replace it if necessary.

Detergent Container

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the detergent container may need to be replaced.

Dispenser Lid

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser lid may have to be replaced.

Detergent Dispenser

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the problem is often related to the release mechanism. If the problem is with the dispenser itself, it may be easier to replace the entire dispenser.

Dispenser Door Spring

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open during the wash cycle the dispenser door spring may have to be replaced.

Dispenser Latch

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser door latch may have to be replaced.

Dispenser Door Pin

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser door pin may have to be replaced.

Dispenser

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the entire dispenser assembly may have to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Wax Motor

There is an electrically powered device called a wax motor which opens the detergent dispenser. If the dispenser is broken and will not open to release the detergent, the wax motor might need to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Bi-Metal

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the bi-metal actuator might be burned out or defective. The bi-metal is a simple metal loop which acts as a latch for the dispenser door. As electricity is applied to the metal loop, the loop deforms and bends away from the latch, releasing it. If the bi-metal is burned out it won't deform or release the detergent door.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Dispenser Slide

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser slide may need to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Dispenser Repair Kit

If the dispenser is broken this dispenser kit may need to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Main Control Board

The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher including the detergent dispenser. If the dispenser will not actuate the main control board might be defective. You should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

The detergent/conditioner dispenser is located above the detergent drawer. A water pipe is connected to it and water entrance and distributed to drawer's cells (following the programmed cycle) by a lever's movement (part of the dispenser). The lever movement is controlled by two solenoids that received their power from the timer. By opening upper machine's cover you will have an access to the dispenser. Disconnect the power cable from the machine before moving to next test !!!! Look first that they are not any disconnected wires. Move manually dispenser's lever and see if water running to all cells (depend on your movement). In case it doesn't work properly remove the unit from the machine and try to clean it (I hope it will help, otherwise you should replace the unit). In case it works properly (manually) - you should test by a multi-tester solenoid's resistance. the one that doesn't have a resistance measurement should be replaced. Good luck !!

No water from dispenser

If the ice maker is still working then water of course isn't an issue. The water dispensor has a solenoid valve that opens to let water flow... do you hear a "click" from the back of the frige when the water lever is pushed? If not, the valve is likely bad. Another possibility is the switch behind the water lever itself is not being pressed hard enough or even broken, see if you can press the switch with your finger up inside behind the lever area (flashlight needed to see up there). If that lever isn't hitting the switch it won't work of course but it could be a bad switch too. Sometimes the little plastic pins that hold the switch in place get broken by slamming a glass into the lever over time. In other words the switch is fine but just hanging inside the door area never to be hit by the lever again. I would be good to check it by pulling the cover off that are and visually inspecting the whole back side of the lever area/switch are for broken parts. The link below may help you with parts and diagrams to see the unit better. http://www.partselect.com/KenmoreModels.aspx?ModelNum=106.54382300&searchTerm=
