I figured out my problem. It's an "LG"! Through several hours with Sears and parts dept, many of these parts are hard to find. So I took apart my front ice maker panel and discovered the spring connecting the trap door arm to the solenoid is missing. I

I've tried to just order that spring and all of the Sears parts reps can't seem to get it right. They keep sending me everything but the spring. I'm going to Ace hardware , find a spring, and hope it works. Even when I called an appliance repair guys, the would not work on an LG fridge. What does that tell ya?

To prevent this problem of ice formation, you need to maintain a fix time interval of switching on and off your refrigerator unit. It will help in maintaining cooling as well as ice level.

SOURCE: Icemaker flap/door does not mechanically open

The description says you have an LG fridge?  I may need the entire model # from the sticker inside the fridge to tell for sure, but there is a motor behind the dispenser controls that opens the door.  Let me know if you need more help.  Also, you can view parts and diagrams at http://www.appliancepartspros.com/.

SOURCE: The control panel light blinking and ice trap door will not close

Sounds like you need a new display pwb. The flapper for the ice works on a solenoid which is on a little board that is behind the display board. When the power is cut the flapper should close as it is on a spring. I don't believe that there is any worries of it catching fire. Have a tech come and replace the board for you.

SOURCE: I have a French door

If the ice maker isn't making any ice, first make sure the wire on/off switch inside the freezer is in the "on" position. It must be locked into position in order to work. Even a small shift can turn off the ice maker.

If the ice maker is turned on and still isn't producing ice cubes, take a look at the tube that transports the water from the water line to the ice maker. If the tube is iced over, ice could be blocking it. Soak a towel in hot water and wrap it around the tube until it defrosts. Listen for the flow of water.

If the water is running through the tube and no ice is being produced, the tube may have a leak. Look for icicles or thick patches of ice on the tube; those can signal the location of a leak.

Freezer temperature also plays a role in the ice maker's functionality. The freezer must be set at 8 degrees F or below for the ice maker to cycle properly. Check the thermostat, usually located in the refrigerator.

Keep in mind that the water supply valve usually has something to do with it. If the handle on the valve isn't turned to the correct position, the water pressure will be too low or too high and the cubes will not be the correct size. If the valve handle is in the correct position, the water supply valve could be clogged. The valve contains a filter that the water feeds through before proceeding to the ice maker, and if too much gunk builds up on the filter it can hinder the water flow. The valve could also contain a bad coil, an problem that would need to be tested for and repaired by a professional.

I could identified the problem as the water pump. The water dispenser is producing water, but water is not being supplied to the ice-maker, then, if your Model LFX25960ST is correct, there is a Dual Valve assembly and the replace part number is 5220JB2008A.

Call or looking for any LG parts shop center. Hope helps.

SOURCE: The trap door on my LG LFX25950SB ice maker will

This will usually be a main board problem. There is also a solenoid in the dispenser that may have failed but the board located behind the unit is, the most likely problem. To determine for sure, a meter will be required to make some voltage checks. To make the voltage checks at the board and solenoid can be very difficult. Making these checks can be dangerous.

LG Freezer ice maker makes ice but wont dispense

There is a mechanical flap (trap door) that should open to allow ice that is being pushed by the auger in the bottom of the bin to fall out. Possibly the solenoid that opens the door does not work, or you just have an obstruction (piece of ice) preventing the door from opening far enough to allow the ice to pass through. Here is some helpful information and instructions.

Ice dispensor in the door will not dispense ice

do you here anything at all happening when you hit the switch... if you not then most likely got a bad door switch or handle is broke at the area where it makes contact with the door micro switch...if you are hearing noise when activating the door switch you are good at the door... with the door opened hold down the actually freezer door switch and look in your ice maker while someone activates the ice dispenser switch. makes sure the augur motor is turning and if it is then make sure it is turning the ice bucket auger screw fairly simple process to go through... the operation is as follows the dispenser handle makes contact with a microswitch in the door and sends power to the auger motor telling it to turn.. once the auger motor starts to turn then it makes contact with the screw in the bucket and turns the screw in bucket forcing ice to front of dispenser and the dispenser has a flap that works both off of power sometimes or just by force of hand others... make sure it is opening and chute down and out door is opened. hope this helps good luck

Ice maker door stays open. How do I take off front panel to revel parts?

Remove the top freezer door hinge cover and disconnect the plug there . This removes power to the door only . Between the dispensor grate and the dispensor cover , inside at the bottom inside dispensor , insert a butter knife and push down and inward , to pop the bottom of dispensor cover outward , on each inner side . This will pop the 2 plastic clips on the cover off . Lift the cover , to pass the plastic retainer tabs . Disconnect the plug to the dispensor . There are 2 screws holding the white housing which has the switches mounted onto it . Remove these screws , and slide the housing foreward and lift . You should be able to see the complete flap door and the spring and pin , to decide what is causing the door to stay open . If you come back with the found problem , and the model number , I would be able to give you the part number(s) needed .

Ice maker will not deposit cubed ice in to glass even when ice cube light is lit come out crushed

This is a problem that can be several causes for this to happen, the first would be that seal on ice door located in dispensor is frozen shut because of bad seal or even crushed ice trapped on seal surface,do not pry open if this is case it needs to thaw using warm water in door opening from inside or hair dryer will do.The second problem could be that mechanism the arm and seal assembly has been damaged and will not work any longer. The third being is your discription doesn't say if the door opens or not and if it does then ice bucket could be frozen to a point it does not operate, faulty door switch can prevent operation,"it won't dispense if the door is open and switch can cause it to think door is open, door must be closed for operation to happen". There is a circuit board in door that can malfunction or the auger motor that runs the ice bucket can fail as well. The last problems should be investigated if the ice door opens and no further operation happens. The answers provided cover all forms of this malfunction known to my knowledge.

Ge, tfx26kpda ww, ice maker only dispences crushed ice

At least yours is making ice. Mine wount even make ice. While toubleshooting my prob, I notice a metal rod on the bottom of the ice tray. This rod opens and shuts a plastic "trap door" in the tray. The position of that door determines whether the ice is crushed or whole. If the trap door is open the ice falls through the dispenser freely. If the door this closed the ice is force thorugh metal teeth where it is crushed then dispensed. Open the freezer door and take the ice tray out. You should see a hole at the back of the freezer that the metal rod goes through. In that hole there is a plastic square that moves up and down. If the set your dispenser to crushed ice, leave the door open, push in the door switch at the bottom, and press the dispenser. The plastic square does nothing while the motor is turning. That allows the door to stay closed and forces the ice through the metal teeth. If you set the dispenser to whole ice and do the same thing the plastic square is suppose to lift up forcing the door open and letting the whole ice drop freely. The plastic square probably does nothing even if you set it to whole ice. That mean the trap door never opens focing the ice to always get crushed.

Unfortunately, I have no solution because mine works and I had no need to investigate further. I hopes this helps you figure out the problem though

Good Luck.

Ice on door not dispensing

you can look closely under the front facade of the dispensor itelf, youll seee 2 small slits approx 2 inches in from each side, insert a flat blade screw driver into the slot and it should "pop" off then lift it off. when putting back on hook the top and push down as close as possible, sometimes I have to hit them with the palm of hand in order to get to "snap" back into place.pushing down on the top of the facade will also ease in the removal
