Thanks. In the process of trying to resolve this on my own, I am having problems getting my system stable. Once I do this, I will post the results. Thanks! Oh, the print is so fine on the back of this **! keyboard that I misread the model, it is RT7D40.

Certain letter keys give me numbers instead of the letter on my verbatim wireless keyboard and mouse

Sounds like NUMlock, or another function key like that. Are those numbers on the keys themselves? That's a common problem for laptop keyboards that do not have number pads.

Hotkey mode

This just worked for me. Using your PC keyboard, boot up to the PC first and then power up your mac. Hit the scroll lock twice and IMMEDIATELY hit enter. You have to go fast- click-click-click with no hesitation and it works great. I still can't toggle the hot keys to set up my mac keyboard, which I prefer using, but I'm assuming it takes the "right" timing on the keys. I'll keep trying.

Good luck!

Keyboard not responding

The keyboard has probably died. (It happens often). Here's a great inexpensive combo to replace your current one. https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-MK270-Wireless-Keyboard-Mouse/dp/B00BP5KOPA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491364851&sr=8-1&keywords=Logitech-MK270-Wireless-Keyboard-Mouse
