Ctrl + Alt+Del

When my colleuge starts up her pc in the morning, it comes to the usually ctrl+alt +del screen, but for some reason when she presses the keys nothing happens, I have tried swapping keyboards, restarting to noavail.

But when she click on the little help link on the right hand corner of the ctrl+alt +del box and presses ctrl+alt +del it works...bizarre!

any advise please.
Thanks
R

Thanks, its a ps2 connection, I have tried with usb as well in different ports to no avail.

The keyboard it self works as they are able to use it after they have logged in.

Like I said they can log in if they click on the help link and then press ctrl+alt +del, but nothings happens when they press it by normal procedure.

What Kind of Keyboard are you using? if it is a USB keyboard you may need to wait for windows to install the drivers for it if it is new. also you may want to try putting the keyboard into another usb port. If it is a PS/2 style keyboard try using a USB as the port itself may be damaged.

Hi

is it a usb keyboard or a ps2(round connector) keyboard? the problem is most likely that due to the computer not having started up properly the keyboard is not properly configured / installed by windows.

to get rid of this problem, you need the old type of keyboard, turn off the computer, and plug in a keyboard to the ps2 connector.

green one is for the mouse, the other is for the keyboard, plug in a keyboard, then turn the computer on, you should be able to press CTRL+ALT +DEL now and ones you sign in to the computer it should install the usb keyboard and it should work from now on, just make sure the keyboard is not disconnected or port changed when the power is off from the computer that cause the configuration loss.
