In order to connect an AV receiver to a TV using component cables (Red & White) you will need to connect the component cables to an available AUDIO "OUTPUT" on the TV (red to red and white to white). Then the other end of this same cable will be connected to an available AUDIO "INPUT" on the AV receiver. The TV (via the menu or setup button) may have to be set to where the audio signal is output to a home theater and not to the TV speakers. Once connected, the AV receiver should then be set to the Audio input used in order to listen to what the TV is showing on screen.

Rgb connection stopped working on laptop

Instructions
    • 1 Decide if you want to watch the television on your computer or use the TV as a larger monitor. If you want to view the contents of the TV on your laptop, you need a video card connected to to the computer. These cards can either be inserted through the express PCI card slot on the laptop, or via USB cable. Make sure the video tuner card supports component video.
    • 2 Connect the DVI-to-component cable into the DVI port if you want to use the TV as a large monitor for your laptop. However, if you have a VGA port, plug the VGA-to-component cable into the VGA port.
    • 3 Plug the RGB component cables into the component side of the DVI- or VGA-to-component cable. If you want to watch the TV on your computer, insert the RGB cables into the TV video card.
    • 4 Plug the other end of the RGB component cables into the TV. If you are using the TV as a monitor, plug the cables into the "Component In" ports. However, if you are sending the TV signal to the computer, plug the cables into the "Component Out" port (the other end of the DVI- or VGA-to-component cable that you connected to your computer in Step 2).
    • 5 Power on the TV. If you are using the TV as a computer monitor, press the "Video" button until "Component Video" appears on the screen. If you are watching TV on your computer, launch the television viewing software that came with the TV tuner card. You can now see the contents of the TV on your computer.

I want to connect to a TV that;s already connected to a cable tv box

What do you mean? Do you want to connect or add another tv to that cable box?

Like two TVs connected to one cable box. If so, on the back of the cable box you have three different ways to connect a tv from, through AV cable, component cables and coaxial cable.

If the main tv is connected by coaxial, the second tv can be connected thru AV or Component cables..

Hope this helps.

How do I convert from HDMI-in to Component-Out? Basically, I'd like to have my cable box (Comcast DVR) coming into the receiver using HDMI but would like to output to my TV using Component instead of HDMI....

looking at the manual here that should work for Video http://www.onkyousa.com/download/own_manuals.cfm?cat=Receiver
it looks like on the receiver you would have the DVR connected via HDMI cable to the receiver On the receiver you would select this HDMI as the input. That should automatically allow that signal to be presented to the component out on the receiver you connect the cables from component out to the TV and switch the TV to select the component input -depending on the TV model this may be labeled AV1,2,3,4, etc No sound will be transferred to the TV as component is Image ONLY whats the make and model of the TV
