Question about Maytag MVWC300XW Washer

1 Answer

My washer has 4 temperature setting: cold, cool, warm and hot. No problems with cold setting. However, the following occurs as soon as the hot water reaches the washer from the water heater: 1) Cool

New water hoses, and water screens on intake valve are clean.

    It appears my problem has stumped all that have viewed it. After review of other washer issues, I believe the problem lies either in the water intake valve or temperature control switch. My guess is that there is a mechanical failure in the water intake valve that causes intermittent opening/closing of the valve causing a water hammer in the water hoses. Does this assumption make sense, or should I consider something else. Thanks for any input.

I would look at water value the leads that attach to the value switch them and see if you get same result if you do then it's not value if you don't the faulty value remember that when you select cold after reversing the connections you should get same result as hot if you do problem lies somewhere else but I got a feeling of a faulty value also try to use the warm fill setting it should fill the washer the fastest because bothe sides of the water value open in warm if water flow isn't faster than just the cold or just the hot setting its the value

SOURCE: Water temperature problem

Chief Walley, you have a temperature control board that sits right behind the timer. A thermistor senses the water and sends the info to this board. The thermistor sits at the water injector. The board may be your problem, I have seen many like this. Keep in mind that the target temp for cold is 75 degrees. If your incomming water is higher than this, you are going to get a warm fill, which they think is cold. Without being there, I would go after the board. Catriver...post back.

SOURCE: maytag performa washer hot/cold cycles reverse, hooked up correct

This sounds like a cold water supply problem that's usually caused by a problem at the water inlet valve. First, remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens inside the water inlet valve. Make sure they are not clogged with rust or debris. Next, check the solenoids using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty solenoid and the water inlet valve assy will need to be replaced. I will attach a photo for reference. Hope this helps and best wishes.

The explanation I have in my file is that powder detergent does not dissolve properly in cool and warm wash cycles unless there is some hot water flow. However, I agree with your assessment.

I have a Kenmore washer model 110.98762792 and im having a problem with the cold water. When the water temperature switch is set to the cold/cold position the washer does not fill with cold water. W

Since U get warm water that tells you that the cold and hot water solenoids are both operating. Ergo the anomaly has to be with the device that controls temperature.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

the inlet valves just open and close, if you have high cold water pressure, it will override the hot water. I suggest you turn down the cold water valve, until warm is kinda warm. your cold water fills will take longer, but you will have warmer water

Yes, this is normal. All newer washer have auto temp control fills. This is to meet energy saving requirements. The less hot water used the more energy saved. Most hot settings on washers give out basically lukewarm water. The detergent made today is made to work well with cooler temperature water, so things will still come out clean.

Our washing machine is putting out hot water when the temprature setting is on cold ...and cold water when it is on hot. All rinses are hot. What part could be bad?

The water temperature is incorrect The temperature of the incoming water determines the temperature of the water in your washer. You get either hot, cold, or a mix of the hot and cold water that's currently available to the machine. So if the cold water that enters the machine is very cold--or if the hot water entering the machine is very hot--the warm water is affected. If you live in a Northern climate, unless you adjust the hot and cold water taps that supply water to your washer, the warm water supplied to your washer is usually hotter during the summer months and colder during the winter months.

just a suggestion kathy;

the hoses that connect the washer to the hose bibs at the wall usually have screens in them at either end. they connect on both ends the same as a garden hose. if the screen on the cold supply is somewhat clogged, this could be your problem.
