Have an Astra G.A.P. espresso machine and have replaced the pump. New pump will not pump water thru machine.

Sometimes a dry pump will; be a devil to prime up and start running. You may have to find a way to force the water into the pump. On the machines I worked on I had a hose the correct size to engage into the water tank socket on the machine. I would fill the hose up (about 2 feet) and blow as hard as possible while running the pump.

What is pump out for & how does it work

does your machine have a rinse cycle that requires the dirty water to leave the machine and then to have clean water fill the machine that then rinses the colthing of detergent and dirty water that then needs to be pumped out. Then does it have a spin cycle that extracts the water out of the items and needs to pump out excess water do clothes have water extracted out of them ?
A pump connected to a motor via a belt spins the pump turbine and pumps out the water.

Hi Erin just read your post,I have worked on these machines alot. Now I need you to manually drain the machine of all the water. Once drained i want you to select drain and spin cycle. Now push the start button,do you hear the pump working? If you do stop the machine and select normal cycle on small water level and push the start button. The machine will then fill.Once it stops filling stop the machine and select drain an spin cycle.Does the machine pump out? Now if you do not hear the pump, could be the pump is faulty or jammed.Does the water flow very fast when you lower it to the floor? Please reply with answers to these questions and I will try my best to help you.

Will I still get coffee if the pump is broken. The machine is leaking staem and water underneath and I beleive it is the staem valve but a 'dodgy' coffee machine repairman is telling me it is the...

Hello,

I am an expert espresso certified man. First of all your repair man is wrong. Let me explain. If you are getting steam at all, then your pump is not broken. This is the way it works, you have water in your machine, it goes into a area where it heats the water by heating elements, then as it heats it builds pressure by air and heat. The machine has a water pump in it, that operates by of course electricity, it pumps the water that is heated by the elements through the machine to of course make shots of espresso. The steam part is simular as it goes in a area, the gets hot and produces steam from the water, like a iron would of press kind of method. THE MACHINE will not make coffee or steam if pump is not working. If you turn machine on, and hear it humming or running, when trying to make a cup, then motor is running, if you turn it on and try to make a cup of coffee or steam and hear nothing at all, then pump is not working. If your machine is leaking under machine from from the steam valve, means it would not do that if pump is not working. Sense it is leaking, this tells me it is clogged. Most likely your need your machine cleaned good, that means descaled. Clean hoses, use small needle to poke in end of steam wand to clean out good jet air holes and basket screen. Find your manual, and it should tell you how to properly clean your machine, and even can use can of compressed air, that you can spray in hoses. It appears to be it is clogged, and when the pump or lines are clogged , it will back up like a clogged toilet and flood area around base and underneath. This whole problem is a cleaning problem, do to a clog or build up. I hope this. PS no if you pump is out or clogged, you would not get coffee as it need to the pump to work (unclogged) to push the water through the heads. Thanks Mike

My Gaggia Baby C coffee maker has stopped pumping water

From what you have asked the only thing I can suggest is that the pump needs to be replaced. Do you hear the pump vibrating? The lines from the pump may be blocked. Have you tried to descale the machine.

Washing Machine will only work on pump cycle

The exit tube behind your machine, is it at a height? Approximately 3 feet? There is a water mark somewhere behind your machine. Your exit pump pumps the water OVER this height, so check this out. Also check to see if the thin tube running from below your panel (inside) is free, ie. disconnect from top and blow into it to see tht it is free. Of course disconnect from the wall power socket before checking all these things.
