This problem is always caused by the tumbler bearings being worn out, this is the noise and the grease, the grease is from the sealed bearings, when the bearing fails the grease goes out through the grease seal which is damaged by the worn bearings.

I'm sorry to inform you it's a bearing, the machine is ready to
be replaced. Those usually take 2 people about 1 /12 to do. The bearing
is not a separate item. You need to replace the back basket and then
the drum assembly since that is the shaft that gets scorn. Usually this
always happen to machines that people do not use HE soap in or use too
much soap. This is way too common and usually cost about $600 in parts
only. I wish there was a better way but un-less it's under warranty, we
never usually fix them becuase it's chepaer for a new machine.
    Sorry
for the bad news my friend

    Thanks!

I have a Kenmore [2005]front load washer that vibrates severely when in high spin and is quite noisy. I have had the top panel, back panel, and bottom front kick panels off and I can not find any obvious...

you may need to change the bearing on the drum easy way to check is while the door is open try to manually spin it with your hand if you hear a grinding sound then the bearing is gone

Brown marks on clothes. I have put the machine on a boil wash with nothing in it. washed all pars of machine and it is still happing, Please help

Hello,

Does the drum sound noisy when it spins if it does then I would suspect the bearings are badly worn and the grease from the bearing is getting inside the drum.

Hope this helps.

Works fine but very noisy during spin cycle. took back off and turned drum by hand. Bearing very rough. Took out bolt in center of the back of the drum . Cannot remove pully to get to bearing.

The pulley will come off. You will need to use a pry bar or wheel puuler to remove it. It take a some pressure to remove this, but it will come off.
Just work with it.

I AM REPLACING THE BASKET ASSEMBLY ON MY KENMORE FRONT LOAD WASHE

The shaft on the spin basket assembly is not lubricated. The shaft is inserted through the sealed bearings located in the rear outer tub shell. Placing any grease on the shaft would end up in your wash and damage your clothes.

Grease on clothes

Check to see if you have movement up and down on the inner tub like a bad bearing or loud roaring noise when turning by hand if so your bearing in the back of the unit has washed its grease out and the back of the outer tub will have to be replace the bearing in factory pressed in sorry that is a hard job and not a cheep one good luck

Bearing noise

You have to remove the outer tub assy from the cabinet then split the halfs, We're told the the bearings are part of the rear tub housing. You might be able to press out the bearings

Front loader washing machine = black streaks on clothing

I am a recently retired engineer of 20 years once you have ruled out anything getting inside the machine by accident etc, like something in pockets or greasy overalls, then its likely to be the drum bearings, has the machine started to get noisy on the spin the drum bearings are covered by a rubber seal, this seal gets damaged or worn and water leaks into the bearings themselves washing out the grease back into the drum where the washing is, you could also notice slight water marks on the floor underneath the machine on the floor, take the back off and look for water marks coming from the drum outer casing behind the pulley, these marks will be brown and will originate from a small drain hole, if any of the above change the bearings before any real damage is done, either to the clothes or the machine, as repair can be expensive? sorry, hope i have helped you as to where to look at least,
