Question about Dyson DC40 Multi-floor Vacuum DC40

I have the Dyson DC40 and sometimes the power button doesn't engage. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: power button not engaging...vacuum will not stay

The power button is worn out and needs to be replaced. That vacuum is pretty simple. So even if you don't know how to take it apart it shouldn't cost much to have it repaired.

My Dyson works perfectly well with the base plate. As soon as i use the hose part it tends to loose all power and i cant even stretch the hose properlu

The hose is blocked, so you have very little suction at the end. The vacuum in the hose is pulling the hose shorter. With the vacuum turned off, push a broom handle through the hose to dislodge the blockage.

actually if it is moving air as your question suggests, nothing is wrong with the unit, if it is blowing then it is in fact sucking...I feel the problem may be user error.

How to replace the reset button on a dc40

Hi Raymond, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC40 doesn't actually have a separate reset button, as the brush bar reset mechanism is built into the on/off and brush control switches on the machine's upper body. If possible can you confirm exactly which machine you have, and which part you're trying to replace?

New, never used before Dyson DC40 has no suction on the bottom, but has good suction through the hose. I have checked for blockages like it was suggested here on the website and the way it was explained in...

On this model dyson there is a flapper valve that opens when the handle release is engaged. It switches the air flow from the hose to the floor nozzle. They break there all the time, and you have to take it to a dyson repair shop.

Dc40 back wheels keep engaging

DC40's stabiliser assembly is engineered to retract automatically when you lower the machine into the vacuuming position. When you stand the vacuum upright after use, the wheels will extend and lock into place to support the machine. You'll hear a click as the machine locks upright. This is shown in the image below.

Model DC40, the wand doesn't have any suction when I want to use on stairs, etc.

If your DC40 doesn't seem to have suction through the wand but picks up as normal on flooring, it's likely there's a blockage in the wand or hose. To locate and remove any obstructions, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

It's also worth giving both filters a wash as shown in the video below - in normal use this should be done at least once a month. Use cold water without detergent and at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely before replacing them.
