CARD READER mini sd/sdhc/mmc wil not work in my dell Lap top. The disc was inserted but nothing showed on the terminal and now the disc will not eject. my dell is the studio model with windows vista....

Was it inserted correctly? It is possible it was inserted upside down. It does happen and sadly does not take a lot of force to accomplish. With a lot of patience and gently convincing it will come out. Also, some laptops (and desktops) depending on the age of the motherboard will absolutely not read the newer cards. You could have a grand mixture of both. I suggest trying to gently push and eject your card a few times. If this does not release the card then gently push then pull on the card a few times. This should release it. I have not seen one remain stuck yet.

Device is detected but i can not open it. When i double click on that it gives message as "Please insert device"

Most 5 in 1 media card readers act like that, you must insert a media card, either SD, Micro SD, MS, MMC, XD or M2 if supported, in order to open it. You can try with your digital camera SD card.

How to remove protection on memory card on a 3310 mobile

  1. Remove the card from your cell phone by pushing the card into the phone and then releasing it. The card will "pop" up from its slot. Pinch the card between two fingers and pull it out of the phone.
  2. Hold the card so the card label is facing you.
  3. Push the sliding lever on the upper left side of the card up, toward the top of the card. This will unlock the write protection on the card.
  4. Mini and Micro SD Cards
  5. Remove the card from your cell phone by pushing the card into the phone and then releasing it. The card will "pop" up from its slot. Pinch the card between two fingers and pull it out of the phone.
  6. Insert the card into a card reader (this will allow it to be read as a normal-sized SD card). Make sure that if the card reader has a slide lever on the upper right-hand side, it is in the "unlocked" position. That position will be marked directly on the reader.
  7. Insert the reader into your computer.
  8. Open the command prompt on your computer. For Windows users, this is an "Open" that will appear when you click on the "Start" button. For MAC users, open the "Finder" window and click on the drive and then select "Get Info."
  9. View the permissions for the drive. Windows users will need to type "reg edit" after the "Run" prompt. MAC users need only click on the "Ownership and Permissions" choice in the Info window.
  10. Reset the permissions for the phone memory card. Windows users need to make sure that the value in the permissions window is set to "0." MAC users will need to click on the appropriate box to select "Read & Write." Save your changes and exit the Info or Regedit programs. Follow your normal steps for your operating system to eject the card reader and then eject the memory card from the reader and reinstall it in your phone.

I got the message "Your Disk is Write Protected" when i go to format. How i format my Transcend disk. Please help me. Thanks.

Removing the write protection depends on the source of the problem.
Broadly speaking, it can be any of the following scenarios
  1. There is a write-protection tab on the mini sd card HOLDER. Every time you insert this into your PC or card holder, this tab slides to the write protect position. Either keep resetting, inserting & reinserting until it doesn't slide or tape it down.
  2. There is nothing wrong with the mini sd card. Simply locate the write protection key and push it.
  3. The mini sd card has some error: Go for a low level formatting.
  4. The card has virus: Remove the virus. The link for the steps is present in the related link at the bottom of the article.

There is an easy way to solve this problem: Simply put the yellow lock in the middle of its slider. No sticky tape required, as shown below. But if your still having the same problem i suggest you try the sticky tape.

problem is only that small moveable yellow lock switch is not making, just put sellotape over it maybe two layers needed to make switch.
== Answer == Even though what is written below may work, the problem is probably that on the card reader (if you have one) there is a small switch that has lock written on the side. If this is pushed down, the drive is write protected, push it in the opposite direction and it may fix your problem I had the same problem with several cards but eventually found a way around it. DON'T buy a new one!

Make sure the SD card lock is 'off' and then use thin, opaque sticky tape (ie non see-through; eg insulation tape) to cover the whole gap but keep clear of the metal contacts at the back.

Your card should work fine now... don't know why this has to be done, but it works! Additional info:
Reason #1,
the mechanical lock switch accidentally moves to the "locked" position during insertion due to the poor quality of the switch. Hence, by taping it, you are actually preventing the lock switch to travel towards the lock position. i.e. downwards.

Reason #2
If the above fails, it is likely your SD card reader/writer's fault. But don't discard it or buy a new one yet. Allow me to explain the mechanical design of the SD card lock mechanism. So that you may choose to repair it if you want to. You will need a small paper clip and screw-driver to open your card reader. (Don't proceed if your card reader is still under warranty, please return/exchange with manufacturer) There is a mechanical switch very much like a micro push button (I wish I could show you the picture/drawing). Anyway, depending on the position of the lock switch. You either push or release this micro push button inside the SD card reader.
Due to mechanical wear and tear, or some forceful insertion of the SD card, the micro push button is in its "open" circuit position, i.e. write-protected. In order to make the SD card reader writable, we will need to "close" the circuit. (Note: this is an irreversible process as I will be telling you how to remove the write-protection feature of your SD card reader. Once you do this, you would be unable to use the SD card lock switch to lock your data. So, just be careful not to accidentally delete your data)
To proceed, you need to remove the main circuit board from the SD card reader/writer enclosure. The location of the micro push button switch is the same location as the unlock position of the SD card when inserted in the SD card reader/writer. From the BACK of the exposed SD card reader, insert the unfolded paper clip (same way when you try to poke something like a device reset button) except, that it has to be long enough to allow the micro switch to touch together for contact. Then insert the SD card. Once the contact is "closed", your SD card reader/writer can write again. I understand that without a drawing, this may not be very helpful. Please provide suggestions or better explanation if you can. Thanks.

Or, just tape the lock switch to unlocked. This also works for SD cards in normal size. back up all the files u have on ur card then follow these steps

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Go to Administrative tools
3. Go to Computer management
4. From the tree menu on the left select Disk Management
5. Now on the right side you will have a list of all storage devices connected to your computer. Select the one that is your mini SD card. BE CAREFUL WHEN CHOOSING THIS BECAUSE YOU COULD FORMAT YOUR HARDDRIVE. Double check the name in My Computer
6. Right click on the SD card and select format. A new window will pop up showing format options. Select FAT32 from the file system drop down and check the quick format option and then click on OK
7. Enjoy your mini SD card without that annoying write protection

Not able to delete pictures push delete button and nothing happens

The camera must have created more than one folder on the memory card, and uses only one of them. Try using a USB card reader, take the memory card from your camera, insert it on the reader and connect it to your computer. Then copy the pictures to your computer, and format the card using the FAT file system (not NTFS).

How can i use sd/mmc memory card reader on my laptop? ia am using dell inspiron 1525 model?

The SD/MMC memory slot is already configured to read standard and HDSD cards. Just remove the DELL blank from the slot by pushing it in until it clicks and release it. Then pull it out. Insert the SD/MMC card into the slot and push it in until it clicks. The DELL Blank is shorter than an actual SD/MMC card, so don't try to push the SD/MMC card any further than the 'click'. Remove by pushing in until it clicks, release, remove.

Multi-media card reader problem

Try pushing in on the card until it clicks, and springs back out. If it is not that type of slot, then pull the card out using a pair of needle nosed plyers (since you obviously can't pull it out by hand). If it looks to require too much force, then you might want to try taking out the screws on the back of the laptop to reveal the card slot, there is an obstruction that is preventing the card from being removed. I had an issue with an SD card getting stuck, and I pulled it, but the pins stayed inside, so use caution & be gentle.

Good luck!
