That usually means that the paper feed rollers are not pushing the paper into the printer. Take a paper towel and some isopropyl alcohol and clean the rubber rollers were the paper is set and feed into the machine.

The problem sounds like your rollers have lost their grip. Remove the paper tray and tip the printer up. Push the red lever on the left of the printer down and you will see the feed mechanism with two wheels. Remove the rubbers on the wheels and turn them inside out. Replace them on the wheels with the worn side now inside and the 'sticky" side out. You should get at least another couple of years worth of use before you need to replace them.
First of all pull out the paper jam cover - is behind the printer with a clock-like handle. Pull it out and check for any paper or other objects. If U dont see anything try to manualy rotate the black rubber rollers and check for that noise. Locate it and try to describe what you see.
Kind of sounds like it. Make sure that there isn't a little piece of paper stuck in there where the paper feeds in. Have seen that happen before. If nothing else try pressing reset button on bottom or machine and see if that helps.
