Sounds like the clutch clip came off, the clutch is at the bottom of the motor, most likely you need a new clutch and/or .... if the washer is +5 years old
buy a new one.

Why does my washer (maytag mah5500bww front loader) make noise during the wash/rinse cycles but not during the spin.?

The noise could be from a loose wire harness, plastic purse-lock wire harness retainer on the upper hose hitting the top cover ir a plastic injector mold standoff on the outer tub bearing housing, also a flat spot in the belt could cause a tapping noise. Something between the outer tub and wash basket. I have had to remove items lodged in the drain tube between the pump and tub, like bra under wires. Sometimes you can squeeze the tube and feel objects the ate lodged. I always take the tube off the tub side and run my finger all the way down to the pump impeller to make sure. I also check the I can spin the impeller and the nothing is in the pump. Hard to say with out being there. Where do you think the noise is coming from top , bottom , left , or right side?

drive couple that model connects the motor to the transmission with a drive couple small rubber circle with two plastic pieces when this comes form the factory they make the small arms out of plastic the one you replace has metal around the inner shank which makes it last alot longer remover the cover then remove the two clips on the pump there unplug harness from motor take the two 1/4" screws out of the motor clamps use a flat screw driver to pry the clamps up do the top one first having your hand under the motor it willdrop downremove the motor and you will see the drive couple when reinstalling the motor align the couple with the spline of the small gear after you insert the motor drop the motor ona downward angle and hook the bottom clip then being the motor back up and hoolk the top clip reinstall the pump and the cover

Making a loud noise when agitating almost sounds like a grinding noise but still washes okay

The noise would be indeed coming from the water pump.

To clean the pump on this top-loader you have to unplug it, pop the top open, and remove the front face of the cabinet to expose the motor and pump.

Slip off the two metal clips hugging the pump to the motor. Place a towel under the motor before detaching the hoses - there's a plastic drip pan between the pump and motor to guide the water away from the motor.

Unclamp the two hoses from the pump by squeezing their spring-clamps with pliers and sliding them further down the hose. Pull the hoses off by lifting the pump off its axle and pulling it out while wiggling the hoses loose. Check if anything jammed in the pump - it must have fallen to the outside of the basket but inside the drum during the last spin cycle, and went down the drain hose. Check the pump for damage and replace if necessary.

For future troubleshooting, remember that a clogged pump causes squealing, diminished spin speed, and slow drainage.

General electric top load washer model #wpre6100g1wt loud noise

Your problem could be one of 2 things either the base is pushed up in the center or the front apron is bent. The apron is the piece of metal that runs across under the top cover. To remove the front cover to see either use a putty knife to release the catch between the top and the front cover and pull front outward one side at a time.

Had one do this. Turn machine around look at bottom two corners. Machine comes with metal rods to stabilize drum during shipping. Installer forgot to pull those out on mine. Once I removed them noise quit.
