Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater
Since tenants left, i have been unable to use/programme the hand held programmer. I have changed the batteries. The hand set is showing all clear numbers. can set time etc and use programme buttons but heat will not come on .had boiler checked out as under guarantee but they said problem with box beside boiler. I have to turn boiler off using switch and then press the small button on the b ox and the heat will then come on but a red light keeps flashing.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

try holding the filter button in for three seconds, if that doesn't reset the timer try the filter button and the temp. up button at the same time for three seconds.

SOURCE: flashing battery symbol
I had this same problem today. I called Honeywell and they said the flashing broken battery symbol may mean low batteries, or it may mean the battery type is incorrect. They recommend only non-rechargeable alkaline batteries. I was using rechargeable NiMH batteries. Even though they were fully charged, I had the flashing battery symbol and the thermostat relay would not work. I replaced with alkaline, the flashing battery indicator went out, the thermostat works again.
Odd that it worked for 3 months on the rechargeables after first install. I did notice the broken battery symbol came on after the first few days, but I checked the battery charges and they were good, so I disregarded the symbol until the thermostat stopped working today. Apparently there is something about the NiMH performance characteristic that the thermostat doesn't like.

SOURCE: my boiler keeps firing up
I had the same problem. I traced it to the micro switch in the water/central heating motorised valve having shorted out.
I replaced the (Honeywell) motorised valve and it is now only running when it should.
