On page 190 of the manual (English) are 5 causes why the flash does not fire, and still the camera is ok. there are even some more reasons why the camera can't use the flash.
But most of the time, the battery is not powerful enough to share the speed light. If nothing works, you should visit the Nikon service centre.

Why has my flash stopped working on my COOLIX Nikon digital camera

This equipment is now over 8 1/2 years old. Things wear out. Sounds as if it's time for a replacement - repair is likely to be cost-prohibitive.

Yes it is repairable. Take it to a camera store or go on Nikon's website and get the details on how to get a repair from them.

D300 pop up flash button broken

Do you mean that the flash won't pop up? The usual cause is either impact to the flash unit or sticky liquid spillage on the flash causing it to stick down. Unfortunately Nikon stopped selling parts on July 13th so unless you can find parts on Ebay you will need to send the camera to Nikon to repair an impact problem. If the flash button is stuck it may be broken.

The pop up flash stopped working on my Nikon Coolpix L110 camera. Camera still works, but without the flash, the pictures are less than desirable. What can I do to correct this problem?

Check your settings first. If this still doesn't work then you'll have to take/send your camera to an authorized Nikon service center.

My flash has stopped working on my D60. It is engaging, and everything is turned on, but no flash. A detachable flash works. Is it possible that it has burned out? And is it fixable?

Hi, It's possible it's the flash tube and that its burnt out. Since an external flash works it doesn't sound like it's the circuitry which is a good thing. The flash tube being burnt out is fixable however it's a fix that needs to be done by a professional. If your camera is still under warranty you can send it into Nikon for repair. If it's not under warranty you can still send it into warranty or you can find someone in your area who specializes in camera repair (as that would likely be faster then sending it to Nikon). If you have anymore problems feel free to message me and I can help you out =)

Built in speedlight on nikon d70 has stopped working. The light pops up, but no flash

If flash pops up and doesn't fire, little white pin/lever inside flash has lodged up inside flash casing and needs to be eased from where it is stuck. Careful when opening the flash up to dislodge the white plastic pin/lever, there are tiny wires you REALLY don't want to damage....

See how, with pics here:

The flash on my camera

There is no top LCD on the D40. Put the camera in AUTO mode (green icon on the dial) and take a picture in the shade. if the flash does not go o, then you have a fault. Send back to authorized repair centre.

Re: nikon 5700 faulty flash

It appears that you have a ccd problem.
That particular model had a ccd problem, whether or not the flash is part of it, I do not know.
Here is the link to FREE REPAIR if the problem is the ccd.

I have sent some Nikons in for repair, and they have been fixed free. The shipping will cost you to send in.

Nikon d70 flash stopped working

Well, you are not going to like my answer. The troubleshooting guide for the D70 says it could be 1 of several PCBs (printed circuit board) being faulty or the connecting FPCs (flexible printed circuit).

You'll need to locate a local repair person or use the reapir service search here on Fixya. Nikon USA repairs will be $$$$
