Get some WD-40 and spray the area around the nut then let it sit for a few hours. This will get into the threads and loosen any rust that is compounding your problem. Now get a good wrench and look directly at the nut. Left is loose and Right is tight.

LT2000 craftman mower bolt and nut that tightens blades keep coming loose

Get some red lock tight and put it on the spindle shaft threads. Sounds like the threads are worn down and just won't hold the spindle nut tight any longer.

Craftsman edger model 358.796480 blade not cutting. Am I doing something wrong? Seems like looks OK but still not cutting.

Assuming the obvious that the motor is turning, the only thing that would keep it from cutting is that the nut holding the blade is not tight enough or the sping washer between the nut and the blade is missing or on backwards. The correct orientation of the spring washer is so the inside surface around the hole contacts the nut, and the outside circumfrance of the washer contacts the blade. P.S. the nut is tightened very tight.

Change an edger blade

Start here to find User's Manual. Sometimes the nut/bolt holding the blade on is a Left Hand thread and requires CW turning to loosen and remove. Not sure on this model.

It's impossible to change a blade on a craftman edger. There is no way loosen the bolt holding the blade

Can you grip the blade and hold it still with say a pair of Vise Grips and remove the bolt that way? Lock the grips on the blade and then when it turns will it jam itself against the blade guard allowing removal. What type of bolt actually holds the blade on? Post back with more details.

Can't get the nut off.. is there a secret to blade removal

Hi these are usually the opposite way to which the blade turns but you may have to use a rattle gun to remove this. If you have a look at the thread you should be able to determine which way it comes off. Just remember to fix the blade so it wont turn and take your fingers off.
