NO SOLUTION but I have this same problem with my machine.

If the ice cream is frozen on the inside of the can and soft toward the center, I would check your paddles. The paddles are wooden and they attach to the outer dasher with two screws. If the screws are too tight or too loose, then the paddles will not scrap the frozen cream from the inside of the can, resulting in what you describe.
