    Dear Kevin

Tried your solution but unfortunately it didn't work. I had previously phoned Sharp who suggested that it would have to go back to the supplier (in this case Comet) so it looks like that's what I will do. many thanks for your help anyway.

    Regards

thanks for your help, we did download an upgrade in April and I don't think there has been another one so it does look as though It is going to have to go back. It is only 6 months old so am not too impressed with it!!

    Regards

Look in the manual and change it to dvd mode or return it in store for a replacement.

There is no blu ray mode as u call it, have u downloaded the latest firmware for this player at sharp's support web site? if so then there is a problem with the player, if not then do so and see it it corrects the problem.

My sharp blu ray player no longer plays blu rays

If it plays CDs and DVDs but not BluRays at all, then the blue laser is burned out. CDs and DVDs use a different laser. A needed firmware update would not prevent it from reading a BluRay.

My aquos bluray player has stopped playing my blu rays it reads the disc then says reading complete but then theres only a black screen.it plays some older dvds but i bought survival of the dead today and...

Sound like the firmware needs to be updated for the newer encryption schemes had the same problem with my bd-hp21u with a couple of new bd discs. You will need a 1gb or smaller USB drive to put the updated firmware on which Sharp doesen't tell you. The rest is in the manual or available from sharp support.

Hi i have a sharp hp22 i ham trying to play normal dvds on it ? is that possible

All Blu Ray players that I have dealt with are what is termed "backwards compatible" which means they play Blu Ray, standard DVDs,music CDs,MP3s,recorded CDs and DVDs, etc. yours should have no problem reading and playing back your "normal" DVDs. Good luck !

Sharp Blu-Ray model BD-HP20X locked to region 4 how to unlock ?

Well I Checked my data resources and saw that there are no hacks or tricks for Sharp yet... the only thing you can try doing now is to ask your Dealership if they can unlock the regions for you. I've searched everywhere but couldn't find anything for newer models like HDDVD or Blu-Ray players.

Sorry T_T But let's hope someone might be able to help as well..

Incompatible Disc in Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-Ray Disc Player

I had the exact same problem as you did... I bought the Sharp Aquos 42D85X which came with Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-ray Disc player. could not get brand new blu-ray movies to play and i found it froze everytime after 10 secs. I phoned sharp who basically were no help watsoever! I then went and returned my blu-ray movies back to the store thinking it was a problem with the discs.. The people there were extremely nice and since they had a display model of the BD-HP21X instore they offered to test the movie on it to veroify whether it was the blu-ray player was the problem or not. Turns out its a fault with all of the BD-HP21X models. So we then ended up returning it back to the store we bought it and exchanged it with the older model (BD-HP20X). I now have no problems playing blu-ray movies. Although another suggestion is to perhaps download the lastest firmware update & see if that resolves your issues.
