Question about Dishwashers
We are having difficulties with our integrated Baumatic slimline dishwasher model BDW45.1. Initially it displayed the E1 error code, which we understand is to do with the flow of water into the machine. We couldn't find any obvious problems so switched the machine off and on again. Now, when we turn the machine on using the control panel, a motor runs constantly and starts to smell of burning in seconds, so we switch it straight back off. It does this the second we switch on without us selecting a program or closing the door and it now doesn't display any error code. I assume it's the pump trying to drain water, so have taken the panels off at the front to see if there is any water in the overflow tray but it's completely dry. What I think is the float to detect overflow also seems to be at bottom of tray so doesn't seem to be raised. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Did you try to pull the plug , maybe the pump or a relais kept being activated

It might be the pump, or it might be an obstruction elsewhere. If you have an air gap on your sink/counter top, open it and check for debris. If it is clear, unscrew the main filter basket. There is a black plug on the left side of the bottom well and you can pull it out after removing the filter basket. Feel around for any obstruction, and see if it is clear. Pull out anything that is blocking it, and make sure that you can spin the impeller freely with your fingers.
I had an impeller break on me. It costs about $30 for the part, and is easy to replace if you are handy. Just remember to unscrew by turning clockwise. If the motor itself is bad, it's about a $75 part and about the same amount of work as changing the impeller.

Kindly check for the following :
Check for hose kinks or food plugging drain hose. Start at the drain port exit.
Check the check valve and drain hose for debris.
Check pump motor for reversing during the pump out make sure the dishwasher is pausing between the wash and drain cycles letting the pump/motor reverse for the drain cycle.
Check pump motor assembly for a drain solenoid, during the pump out make sure the solenoid makes that distinctive "clunk" noise
If you have recently installed a new garbage disposal, check knock-out plug at connection.
Check pump impeller for damage.
Check that the water inlet valve isn't seeping fresh water into the dishwasher when off.
Please contact for any further clarifications.
A Fixya Rating would be appreciated if.

The most common cause of this is a loose clamp on the pump discharge hose. It could also be a cracked hose, the hose came off (again, loose clamp). Check both ends - where the hose connects to the dishwasher AND where it connects to the sink drain.
Another possible cause is a bad pump seal, although this is less common, and usually open happens when the dishwasher is pretty old.
