Riccar RSL4 Supra Lite Very Noise/Slight Burning Smell

Vacuum noise increased significantly...still functions...slight burning smell. Same conditions with belt/brushed removed...certainly seems motor related. Can/should I DYI the motor replacment...looks like a replacement available form sub-$100

SOURCE: burning smell

Unlock the sweeper brushes and take them out. on each end is a cup bearing and should be free of debris.
then check around and under the belt and likely there is debris wrapped around it.
the post is getting hot as your pulling too much of a load.
though if it continues the motor may have a bad set of motor brushes (inside the motor) or bad wiring (kinda unlikely).

SOURCE: Electrical Burning Smell from Henry HVR200 Vacuum Cleaner

Hi! Highly unlikely that you need a new motor.  Highly likely that you need new carbon brushes.  The smell is caused by excessive sparking between the worn brushes and the copper commutator segments.  Most carbon brushes (and from memory I suspect this includes Henry's) have a copper wire buried in their last few millimeters, and you really need to change them before that becomes exposed.   The longer you run it like this, the more likely you are to damage the commutator, so change them sooner rather than later.  When you change the brushes, you can smooth off the commutator with very fine abrasive paper (the objective is to smooth it, not scratch it!), and then blow all the dust away (or **** it away if you have another vac, of course).  Incidentally, you don't say if you are using a paper bag in your Henry. Some people, because the top-hat filter is so good, try to manage without a bag.  This is false economy!  You should always use a bag. I hope this helps! I value feedback, so please remember to rate this response.

The roller head may be turning, but something could be rubbing and causing the belt to slip slightly. I'd remove the belt and beater bar and look for foreign material that is stuck

Vax v-091 burning smell and clunking noise

Is there something stuck inside, underneath, being turned along with the motor? burning smell usually means something got caught and the belt snapped. Not expensive and don't know if it's an easy DYI. Shouldn't cost too much to have it repaired or you can google the brand and model and the word belt, see what you find.

My dc24 has started making a loud noise which seems to be coming from the ball. I switched its off when it started to smell of a slight burning or warm smell. Vacuum is only 2.5 years old, filters are...

Sounds as if there is something stuck in the vacuum causing the beater bar to stop turning while the belt continues to turn giving off the burning smell.

Burning smell from motor

Hi,
Check your filter and also check that nothing got pulled into the motor...otherwise the motor is burning up and will need to be replaced... probably cheaper to replace the whole vacuum..

Wet vac motor making noise and smells like burning

Hi I would suggest that the burning smell and the noise will mean that the motor is burnt out. You can get them pretty cheaply from the internet and they are quite easy to fit.

My dyson has stopped working. There was a burning smell and then a strange noise and now it wont even switch on.

The Motor sounds like it has gone bad. Bagless machines like these always have motor problem. If it is under warranty then it will need to be shipped to Buffalo New York. I would trade in in on a Riccar vacuum. You can get 20 years out of those for less money.

Slight burning smell when dc07 is in use

Sounds like your belt can either be rubbing against something or its stretched out. Either way you should check into getting the belt changed.
