Air in pool

I have purchased and installed a 18" Sand Filter system with 1hp pump for an above ground 12X24 intex pool. I am getting air flowing back into pool. How do I correct, or what do I look for?

You need to look at all intake pipes and seal ('O' ring) around pump skimmer box.

Use a bucket of water to tip over pipe work (while pumping) see if you can see where leak is.

Go to your pool shop and get some multipurpose pool lubricant used on o-rings and gaskets - put on all seals.

Index sand filter pump SF 20110 will not blow water into pool

I don't know how much time you are giving it, but sometimes when I start my pump, it'll take 20 minutes or so for it to start a full stream of water. Also, make sure the valves are turned to the unlock position on the incoming and outgoing hoses.

I have a 12x24 rectangular intex pool that came with a sand and pump filter system model # 15110.My Q is; when pump is runnimg what psi should be on the sand filter gage.We read about 8 to 10 psi now,look...

I am not an expert on your particular Intex model ...

I believe your pressure readings are with in normal parameters. Is your water clean?

Is it balanced? Your goals should be Alkalinity of 100 (no less than 80 and no more than 120, pH should be 7.4 (but no less than 7.0 and no more than 7.8) and your chlorine should be 5 ppm. I recommend a DPD test kit Cyanuric Acid should be about 50 but no less than 40 and no more than 80. Cyanuric Acid is also called stabilizer. Its function is to protect the chlorine you are making in your cell. Refer to your owners manual for how much salt you should have in your pool. 3200 ppm salt is a window to shoot for. You can get a test kit for salt. Salt, like calcium, is persistent in the water. The only way salt and calcium get out of the pool is through back washing, splash out and what you carry off with your swimming attire. Chlorine is affected by the sun and materials introduced into the water by the swimmers as well as what jumps, falls or hops into the pool. pH is not necessarily affected by the sun but the other factors do come into play. A properly balanced pool (alkalinity-wise) will not have pH "bounce". If your pH is bouncing, that is an indicator that your alkalinity is out of whack.

If your pool is 4 feet deep, you have about 8,640. Your goal should be for a 8 hour turn over rate (your pump should be pumping no fewer than 1,120 gallons per hour). BTW, studies show that if you run your pump 24/7 with a 8 hour turn over rate, it still takes up to 5 days for every drop of water in your pool to actually pass through the sand.

You could install a flow meter in your return line. It is simple to do - drill a hole in the return line and attach the meter. Rule of thumb - a 1.5 hp motor (probably bigger than yours) will move about 50 to 70 gallons per minute through a 1/5 or 2.0 pipe. A 2 HP motor will move between 60 and 80 gallons per minute through a 2 inch pipe (and filter, of course). Get a flow meter at your full service pool supplier. It will come with full particulars.

With a clean filter (note the pressure) you should back wash when the pressure increases by about 10 PSIG (Pounts Per Square Inch on the Gage) from the pressure when clean.

I hope this information helps you ...

Pool pump shutting off/tripping the circuit breaker

What kind of pump are you using?
Sounds like the Intex is restricting water flow there by heating up your pump and shutting it down..
You may need to re plumb everything to handle the flow.
Intex hoses and fittings are different than the industry standards just so the can make you buy from them
Do what ever it takes to get good flow

Hi- I'm a new intex above ground metal frame pool owner. I bought the saltwater chlorinator to go with my pool. I constantly have a problem with the pool filter not getting enough water to flow through...

You've gotta keep that annoying filter pretty darn clean to please the saltwater pump. I have to scrub my filters daily for this reason. What pump do you have? Mine is rated for 4000gph but I see Intex even offers support for pumps with as little as 500gph.

Brand new system... Code 90... Checked for air in hoses & loose hoses, changed pump filter, everything installed correctly... Help????

Make sure your flow sensor moves freely. Soak the unit in vinegar if it looks dirty
I would also try bleeding the system run your pump with the bleeder screw on top of the filter cartridge open a few turns Just enough to allow the water and air to flow do this for a minute or so and then tighten the screw

Pool Pump - keeps getting air

It sounds like you might not be getting enough suction on your pool filter. I would check all of the hose connections for cracks, loose fittings, etc. If you are getting any extra air, it will cause your pressure to decrease.
