Question about Husqvarna Garden

1 Answer

I am removing Briggs and Stratton 31A6 500cc engine from a Husqvarna 316AWD ride on mower due to con rod failure. Below the chassis where engine is bolted to mower (with four bolts) there are two drive pulleys that will not come back up if I lift the now loose motor. My question is whether the engine main shaft is splined without being bottled on, or has a retaining bolt under the lower pulley. Theres no gap to access bottom of main shaft anyway or have a look.Appreciate help.

thanks. It turns out there is a direct access tube from underneath to the head of the bolt holding on the pulleys. However its blind and a 8mm allen hex does work, nor a 10mm. I am now trying to source a 9mm hex allen socket and a 3/8th in case its imperial. Being briggs and stratton is the bolt holding on the pulley more likely imperial ??

SOURCE: The main pulley below the motor is split and needs

I would recommend that you remove the deck, when you do you will have an adquate amount of work space. You may want a pully puller to assist in getting the pully off.

SOURCE: motion drive belt shredded. what

It is normally threaded, which is to say it has right hand threads. So you will need to turn left to loosen. You can take a block of wood to brace the blade or use vice grip pliers to block the blade. The blade needs to be immobilized to loosen the bolt.

If this is really helpful for you, please rate four thumbs up.

it depends on the fault or problem it bears . I suggest to buy new instead of used , because it must be rusted and corrosion so it will continuously give you problems to repair and spending money .
