Do you grind your beans at home before brewing or is it ground from the store. If you grind just before brewing check her grind and compare it with yours.
Also check to see if she levels the coffee in the basket. Usually when a pot overflows it is because of the grind or the way the coffee sits in the basket.

bunn coffee pot-coffee ground overflow!!!-a couple solutions
    1. drill a bigger hole in the bottom of the basket.
    2. don't use bunn coffee filters. they are a higher fiber filter causing water to flow through very slow while the coffee pot is flowing out water fast.
    3. Pour in one cup of coffee and set that same cup under the basket. Use it like an expresso machine. Then do the same with another clean cup or whenever your ready. It only puts the same amount out that you put in. Dont use over 5-6 tablespoons.

Bunn problems

Sounds like the tube feeding water from the reservoir to the spout is clogged. There is a spring Bunn supplies with the coffee maker that you need to use.
Twist loose the plastic piece above where the coffee filter basket is and remove it. Then push the spring as far as you can into the line. Sometimes you have to push a little hard but when you push it in make sure you leave an inch or so still sticking out so you can grasp it to pull it back out. Repeat this a few times to make sure the line is clear of any build-up.
Another idea is to remove the plastic top of the machine by removing the 4 screws and see if the hole where the water drains into is clogged or won't open. Hope this helps.

COFFEE MACHINE KEEPS FIL;LING UP AND OVERFLOWS. tHIS IS A BUNNOMATIC MODEL STPF-15

Dunkin Donuts decaf coffee clogs the filter as the water fills the basket causing the basket to overflow. The coffee is ground too fine. Swtich brands or use a second filter to cover the coffee grounds to keep them from floating and clogging the filter.

Water not filtering quick enough, basket overflows

Make sure your sprayhead is the proper one (5 hole) and in good shape. Also make sure that the hole on your filter basket has not been partially closed. This can happen if you set it on the hot warmer. As a last resort, you can slightly enlarge the hole in your filter basket.

Had about a week. if i fill with 50 ounces of

Try taking the filter out, and turn the sprayhead off the unit. Put the basket back on, and try pouring clear water through the unit. If the water runs through fine, you either have a plugged sprayhead or are using too finely ground coffee. Look at the holes in the sprayhead, and make sure that none of the holes are plugged. If the basket still overflows, try using a drill bit to make the hole in the funnel a little larger. Good luck.

Over running, doesnt drain thru filter as fast as its pumping in

Sometimes this happens if you use filters that are too thick for the brewer. If you are using Bunn filters andthis keeps happening , up above your filter basket, there is a sprayhead. Turn that off, and look at it to see if it is plugged up.If there is no sprayhead, then that could cause your filter basket to overflow, as too much water will be coming into the basket too fast.

Just bought a new Bunn Thermafresh and it overflows coffee grounds and coffee all over. What can I do?

Coffee overflowing onto the counter is a common complaint found in response to many automatic drip coffee makers. The following are potential solutions that can be used to rule out "operator error" vs. a defect or malfunction:

1. Don't overfill the basket with grinds.
2. Ensure you are using the correct grind for an automatic drip coffee maker, neither too fine nor too course. (See instruction manual.)
3. Do not overfill with water. Use the carafe to pour water into the reservoir. This is because a "cup" in coffee terms is defined as 6 oz, not 8 oz.
4. Make sure the filter cone/basket clicks into place and that the carafe is centered and pushed all the way in.
5. Try a permanent filter rather than a paper filter or vice versa.
6. Only use the correct permanent or paper filter (see manual).
7. Make sure that the Pause 'n Serve button isn't sticking. (If it is activated too long the brew will escape over the top of the cone/basket. This may be more apt to happen if the alignment of the carafe and the basket is incorrect.)
8. Clean your machine with vinegar or as instructed by your user manual at least three times per year, more if your water supply is hard. A properly cleaned machine is less likely to suffer a burned out heating element, to take too long to brew, to produce "off" tasting coffee, or to clog and overrun the filter basket as the water runs through the grinds.
9. Ensure that the coffee machine is sitting level on the counter.

Some people also try adding fresh grounds to brewed grounds, resulting in an overflow. A restricter valve can be used, but a better solution is to simply pour in half the water at a time. This is what people who buy non Bunn filters do to stop overfills.

Bunn coffee pot blows water out top of basket

Check the grind on the coffee, brew a pot without coffee and if it overflows, then the machine has a problem. If it doesn't then try a coarser grind on the coffee.

Overflowing basket

The grind on your coffee is too fine, and if not there is too much coffee in the basket, hence the overflow.
