I have Acer Aspire E500 (ASE500-UP801M) running Win XP Media Center edition, 1G RAM. It is too slow. Q1. Could I add another RAM stick to it and how much maximum could I add? Q2. How do I know the Bus

Test your computer using a brand new hard drive. 1GB memory is enough. I am sure this is a software problem (messy registry or problematic apps or malware) or space problem (the hard drive is almost full).

Can i update the video card for hp a610n

Hi.

The HP Pavilion A610N was not designed for Win 7 Ultimate as it was only shipped with 512MB of RAM (memory) The Video card is integrated and only supports 64MB, you will have to purchase a AGP 8X video card to install.
Unless you have maxed your memory to 1GB then it could run Win 7 fairly well, If not i would go back to XP.

Regards.

HP COMPAQ 6510b RUNS SOOO SLOW

My recommendation: Install XP.
Well, not that there actually something wrong, but it initially came with XP or Vista. It depends. HP puts it a XP. Check your MS Product key sticker.

It is a simply determination that the laptop just does not have a enough resources to run Win 7 effectively. How do I know, I am using an HP 2.3GHz with XP. I tried Win 7 awhile back and immediately removed it. If fact, I do clean install of XP at least once a year. I do test more software than most.

Here is my Slow Windows Machine! default fix.
  • Sounds like not enough resources such as RAM and CPU. Check Performance in Task-Manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE).
  • Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when you initiate.

Oh yea, in your case disable AREO, and u
se a virus protection with a smaller footprint. Like MS Security Essentials. My PC just couldn't handle McAfee or the likes.

Google Chrome with AVG 2012

as win xp is no longer supported by microsoft it is very possible that the updates are not being recognized by win xp and you now have confloicts in the os.
if it works fine in win 7 , then it is time to remove win xp and upgrade to win 7

Hi. I own an ACER 4736z, Win-XP. However there is one issue...After running for sometime, the graphics on my laptop become slow...ie the video moves in slow-motion, the audio gets corrupted etc. I've tried...

Hi, There are signs of possible the OS which Win XP is corrupted or there. What i could advise you to do is to save every important documents you have and then reformat the system back to factory defaults.. Everything will be back to normal
Cheers!!!

My gateway MA1 laptop running win xp has cooling problems

Contact GATEWAY, and get them to fix your laptop.
The fan is designed to run at "full-speed" when you first turn it on, and then there are temperature sensors that slow the fan down, to minimize noise, while the computer is "cool" enough that the fan does not need to run. The sensor is malfunctioning, and is not turning-on (or turning-up) the fan when the computer gets "warm".

OS Upgrade Issue

Stick with XP. I bought a laptop that had Vista in it, and it runs and performs more faster with Win Xp Pro. It was slower and too confusing with Vista.
