When I turn on my Line 6 Spider II 30 amp, it keeps giving a loud hum that won't stop. Nothing seems to work, I've pushed all the buttons and turned all the knobs but it keeps humming. I've also tried...

I think shielding inside the amp is opened or broken with moisture. Take it to the serviceman or open it, and find leaky parts like Capacitors etc, desolder remove and put new same value new ones. and also check for dry solders and resoldering them will fix your problem. tack care when servicing . best of luck

I keep getting a Protector reding on my screen and it will not let me do anything. What do I do to fix this?

Try disconnecting everything (speakers cables, signal cables, all other units) except the power cord, then turn the unit on, if the protector message persists, then the fault is in the reciever.

If this is the case, you should check the speaker and signal connectors for any damage, shorts or loose solder contacts, also check the unit for any shorted or broken wires, loose wire connections, bad solder contacts on connector pins, bad solder contacts on ANY other components (give some extra attention to the components that tend to warm up while they operate, like main power amp transistors / ICs, voltage regulators, power resistors, diodes, also coils, capacitors, etc). Any loose solder connections should be resoldered.

If there's no message when you've disconnected the outside equipment, you have either a bad speaker, a bad speaker cable, a bad signal interconnection cable, or a fault in any of the units that were connected to the reciever. You can find which one is the cause by turning the reciever off, then connecting one cable or unit, turning the reciever on again, see if there's a message, if there's none, turn it off again, connect the next unit / cable and so on, until you get the protector message. The cable or unit that will make the message appear is most probably the cause for the trouble (there might be loose solder connections on other units' cable connectors or other components). When you plug and unplug the cables many times, with time this will loosen the solder connection on the pins inside the unit, so these need to be resoldered.

Hope you can find out what it is.

Same thing! Remote doesn't want to work

Try cleaning the infrared LED on the PC board. I had the same problem (10 year old Toshiba). LED was cloudy with dust- also clean inside the TV where the light comes trhough. Works fine now

When i connect my ps2 controller, it wont respond but the red light appears and i havent broken it. how can i fix it

Even if it looks fine, i might still be broken. In this case, i'm guessing one or more of the contact pins in the connector of the PS2 controler, or the PS2 itself has broken off, of had just too much dirt and grime to give contact to the controller completely. So start by examining both the controller's connector, and the PS2's connector and seeing if everything is ok or not. If everything seems fine, ask a friend or family member to lend you a spare controller to test for a few hours. If the other controller they lent you does the same thing, then the PS2 is the problem, and the connector is either broken or the soldering on it that links it to the PS2's main board is broken. If the lent controller works fine, then your controller is broken, and if the pins are all OK, then some soldering broken inside the controller itself. If you hear some ratteling on the controller, its usually a good sign of solder breaking off. In which case you can try to open the controller and resolder the broken contact, but if you do not own a soldering gun and/or have no clue how to solder electronics, i suggest taking it to your local technician and have him resolder it.

Hello the connector on back of my tv came loose how can i diy

You need to remove the tuner from the main circuit board, resolder the cable connector to the metal tuner case, and resolder the connection inside the tuner from the connector center tab to the tuner circuit board.

Removing the tuner requires "solder wick," a copper braid that soaks up the solder as it melts so it can be freed from the board.

Resoldering the connector to the tuner case requires high heat from a soldering gun to get it hot enough fast enough to make the connection. A regular soldering iron won't do the trick.

If the connector has been broken off completely, replacements are available from a couple of on-line vendors (I use a company call MCM Electronics www.mcminone.com.)

If you are not comfortable with electronic soldering and working on TV's, you might want to get an estimate from a shop for this repair. It should be under $100, depending on the shop's rate.

Ac adapter sometimes works for a few seconds not at all

It most likely has some broken solder connections on the jack. Unless you have soldering equipment there is nothing you can do yourself except to take it to a repair center. If you tell them that the A/C adaptor jack has some broken connections that need to be resoldered, they may give you a break on the normal repair cost since this is not a big job. It just requires the right tools. If you have the soldering equipment you can take it apart and resolder those connections on the jack yourself.

check the atena wire connection (gray thin wire). both the ends should be seated firmly.

in my case, soldering at one end was broken. had to resolder. its working now.

try resoldering the vertical output IC. have seen bad solder on that model make the picture tubes blank as a safety feature when vertical deflection drops out.
