My iMac froze and won't reboot

Your question is incomplete. Your imac froze and wont reboot. What you see on screen when you start it? Do you see a spining wheel or a folder sign with a question mark or a blue screen? If yes then it's either corrupt/damaged osx or bad hard drive.
Good luck.

Wont startup.flashing ?

Hi. The Flashing ? means that the mac cannot find a valid start-up drive. Sometimes this can mean a failed Hard-drive but more commonly it is a sign of directory corruption.
It's quite possible with an iMac of this age that you could have a failed Hard-drive. However, if you can locate a copy of DiskWarrior you can fix a corrupt directory.

IMac OS 9.2 hangs up in the "starting up" mode and

You may have a problem with your internal hard drive.
If you have your original software disks, you can boot the computer from them and run Disk Tools to analyze and possibly correct any problems.

IMac G4 Mac Desktop: imac g4 wont boot up scree's just blue?...

If it only boots to a blue screen, try booting up in Safe Boot mode:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455

If this does not work, boot from your install DVD and use Disk Utility to repair the disk:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2956

If this does not resolve the issue you may need to use your isntall disc to perform an Archive and Install:

Wont boot on its own, wont boot with install disc,

As the hard disk appears to be showing up when you boot up using the install disc, I would suspect that the system is somewhat corrupted. You could reinstall the system again and if you are happy starting from scratch and wiping the hard drive select this option failing that and there is some data on the imac you could install using the preserve user data. A fresh install should sort out any problems. Hope this helps.

My imac wont turn on!

It sounds like something is either corrupted on your system or one of the files in your imac may be suspect. What I would suggest is get your system disc boot the imac down holding down the c key on your keyboard. Once it is booted up go to the file menu and find the disk utility. Open up the disk utility and first of all repair your disk permissions and then run disk verify and if an error comes up choose to repair it.

If this does not work. I would suggest installing a clean system. Again with the system disk in your computer restart your machine with the c key held down on your keyboard. Choose to do an install but remember to select preserve users. This will give you a clean instal with your files and preferences intact.

Once your machine has restarted it is well worth setting a second account under system preferences under accounts as if one account becomes corrupt in the future you have a second account to fall back on.

For prevention of any problems in the future I would download Onyx from this website http://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/keep-your-mac-running-smoothly-with-onyx/ which also talks you through the method of using it. I use it every month just to keep my mac in tip top condition.

Hope this helps.
