SOURCE: vent fan runs intermittently, starts on and off regularily

I read in a different online review that whenever a room is above 70 the vent fan will start automatically for this microwave to cool it down. It is a built in feature and there is no way to turn it off.

SOURCE: fan just circulates air instead of exhausting the air outside

The exhaust motor was not installed properly - it has to be turned 90 degrees so that the blower openings face up instead of the front. Whoever installed it didn't read the directions:)
Unfortunately, the unit will have to be taken down from the wall to correct the motor.

SOURCE: I have a Bosch Microwave,

If one of the door interlock switches is not switching properly, that can cause the turntable/light to come on eventhough the "Starts" button has not been depressed due to the wiring of the switches.
Check for faulty door switches and/or contaminated actuators.
I hope that helps.

If your microwave is ducted to the exterior the cold air could be from the outside if the backdaft damper is not functioning properly. If you have a HVAC system, the return air process can be pulling outside air through the hood making the condition worse. The microwave damper is usually on top of the microwave unit at the exhuast opening. Maybe some greasy dust is preventing the damper from closing all the way.

How to vent exhaust outside

You can buy a rear vent that is superior to a dryer vent. When this isn't possible you need a rectangular duct going up through your cabinet and up through your ceiling. hopefully you have an attic or you have to switch to a 5 inch tube going sideways (above your cabinets (if there is space) to the outside wall. If it goes into an attic you have to cut through the shingles to a vent made for bathroom and or hood vents. The motor and blower assembly inside your microwave is designed to turn to be front facing, rear facing or vertical facing. Just unscrew or break out the side that you need to vent through.

How does this microwave exhaust system work. The installer did not use any duct work, so is the exhaust internal somehow? There is no grill on the exterior for exhaust

The exhaust fan appears to intake through a louvered vent in the bottom rear of the microwave case and output through a grease filter near the top front center of the case. You may be able to see some vent holes along the top of the case though these might be obscured by the manner in which the microwave was installed. You should be able to pop off the front panel that runs above the door but you'll need to consult the owners manual for specific instuctions.

Cheers.

Hmv9305/01 microwave @ 13months old the magnetron blew, authorized bosch repairman, replaced using bosch magnetron. warranty for 90 days jan of 2011 same problem, why does this happen? should i ditch...

With all due respect, what are you doing to it?
If you use it with nothing in the cavity, that will kill the magnetron otherwise it will last for years and years.
Very unusual and Bosch is a well respected name.
If there is a probem with the oven, Bosch will replace it so take it up with Bosch.

Microwave vent turned on by itself and won't turn off

The HMV9305 has an automatic vent turn-on feature. It senses heat, possibly from the oven or range beneath, and turns on the exhaust fan until temps return to normal. Sometimes this may take 4-5 minutes, which can seem like an eternity of listening to the blower run, but it is a safety feature designed to prevent damage to the microwave from excessive heat generated by the cooktop or oven beneath it.

are you referring to an over the range microwave with an exhaust fan? It should have come with a damper kit and adapter to go a standard duct size and run it either trough the back wall or straight up

Venting

If this microwave has vented outside in the past then most likely a bird or something has built i nest in or on the vent blocking airflow. If its always been this way then in order for this model to vent though an exterior duct the blower motor has to be flipped so that it blows upwards and a vent connector needs to be installed. This is a fairly easy process once the microwave has been taken down but can be dangerous because there is a capacitor that holds 4000 volts that can discharge though the cabinet if you're not careful.

Outside venting GE Profile Spacemaker XL1800

Your vent flap could be taped or it could be faulty installation not allowing the vent to open. If you take the front vent cover off, you should be able to reach in above the fan unit and gently push the vent flap up, it should move freely with no binding. If it doesn't it is taped or blocked. If it is taped, gently putting upward pressure on the flap might release the tape. If that doesn't work the vent installation is blocking the flap. You might have to remove the unit from the wall (two people to do this) or disassemble the vent duct above the microwave and rework the interface for clearance.

hope this helps,

I don't have the manual but there should be a temperature setting for the fan to come on.
