use a press to push out the rubber and then use a hacksaw blade to cut through remove the blade and pass it through the hole and then do the hack saw back up.. Then use something like a flat blade screw driver and drive it between the body and the metal insert and break next to where you have cut

Choosing the right hacksaw for your job

For every project that you want to work on, there will be a different set of tools that you will need to use. The hacksaw has different types of blades and frames that can be switched out for the different projects that you are working on.

There are three main kinds of blades that the hacksaw can use and each one has different benefits. The teeth on the hacksaw blade will range between 14 and 32 teeth per inch. The thicker the blade the fewer teeth there will be per inch on the blade. The types are regular, raker and wavy. Regular blades are good for soft metals that don't have a lot of metal and the teeth will be closed together touching and alternating left and right. The raker blade has teeth placed in sets of threes and are best used fro cutting through thick metals. The last kind of blade is called a wavy blade, on these ones the teeth are in a wave pattern that are great for making smooth cuts in hard thin metals.

When it comes to hacksaw frame types there are two types to look at the fixed frame and the adjustable frame. Fixed frames are only able to hold a blade of a single sized length of blade. The adjustable frame can hold different length blades typically between 10 and 12 inches. The blades that you will buy for a hacksaw will have holes on either end of the blade. These holes are used to attach and dettach the blades from the frame.

Whatever the blade that you are using make sure that when you are sawing through metal make sure that you go slow because rubbing metal on metal will generate a lot of heat and can spark. You can also ruin the blade on your if you are sawing too quickly.

How do i remove a broken bolt which is embedded in the toilet, the bolt keeps the toilet seat lid fastened to the toilet?

There has to be either a nut and washer under the toilet, or if its reversed a bolt head with a washer under it holding it down. To remove it you can either use a hacksaw blade between the bowl and the bottom of the seat. Or use a dremel tool to slowly cut away the metal rod, etc., from the top. If using hacksaw put down some masking tape on the bowl so you don't scar up the enamel surfacr of the bowl. Work slowly and you will eventulaly cut through it.

Am i better off using a hacksaw or a pipe cutter to cut the metal pipe that runs through my garden?

Although pipecutters are generally seen as giving a much cleaner and better cut than hacksaws, they are a bit limited in what they are able to cut through. Hacksaws however can cut through all sizes of plastic and metal.

Can i cut rebar with a hacksaw?

you can, but its not great for the teeth of the saw and it can get tiring. if you have any powersaws with metal cutting blades, that works best. if not, you can use the hacksaw but i hope you don't have too much rebar to cut

How do i remove the headrest on 87 camaro? Thank you

  • Take a long flat tool/piece of metal and slide it down the front side of the headrest bar. A long thin hacksaw blade works well (don't cut yourself) This keeps the buttons from falling out of their holes. guaranteed to work.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Dodge ram 2500 1999 heter core need to be reaplace

I have a 2000 1500, but from what I can see it is the same fix. You need to pull dash forward. 2 bolts behind kick panels one on either side. Screws along top windshield I believe there are 6. Detach steering shaft. (lay down on drivers side facing up. 2 bolts hold in place) This should allow entire dash to tilt towards seats. Heater core is passenger side. You will see 2 metal lines going through firewall. This is your heater core lines. Detach these from rubber hoses inside engine compartment.

Here's where you can follow the book, or do it the easy way... The book says you need to remove the ENTIRE dash and discharge A/C unit before removing.... I have a way better fix.

With a hacksaw cut the metal lines off the top of the heater core (its already junk so don't worry). Pull up on heater core to remove. Now the tricky part. With the hacksaw, cut through the plastic housing. Start far right and cut down until you meet the natural break in the 2 pieces of plastic. Now start another cut on the far left of the housing and again cut straight down. You are creating a door for the new heater core to install. ***Save this piece of plastic housing as you will need it***.

Install new heater core and then use JB Weld to fasten "door" back into place. This should save you about $300 and hours of time. Have fun...
