With just a little luck, the scratch is not too big, and you won't even see it on most pictures. Don't try to remove the scratch, because the front of the lens has a coating you can remove very easily. That will do more damage to the pictures then a scratch. You could contact a Canon repair centre, and ask what it would cost to replace the lens. I think it could set you back more then a new camera will cost, but always worth trying. If you don't see a thing on the pictures, leave everything as it is right now.
Only clean a lens with a lens pen, you can buy in every camera shop. In a camera shop you also can buy other cleaning suff special for lenses. Never use fluids that are not special for use on lenses, or you will also damage the lens.

I have a Kodak EasyShare Z650 digital camera. I have a tiny scratch on the outer lens. Can I replace the lens or can I fill the small scratch in and smooth it out like what is done on chips in car windows?

First check your warranty on the remote chance that might cover the damage. The only true fix for a scratch on a camera lens is replacement. For many point and shoot cameras that would cost more than the camera, IF you can even find someone to replace it. There are several do it your self options that work sometimes and to varying degrees. The first and most well known way is the alcohol method. First place some lens cleaner on a microfiber cloth and wipe the lens well, then using a clean portion of the cloth, dry the lens well. Next mix a solution of 1 part rubbing alcohol and 20 parts water (e.g. 20 teaspoons of water to 1 teaspoon of alcohol.) Using a fresh microfiber cloth, dip it into the alcohol mix, then gently rub the length of the scratch repeatedly and you may see the scratch disappearing. If so continue until the scratch is gone. Next take a clean microfiber cloth or if you don't have one, a clean portion of the one you used previously with the alcohol and gently buff the lens. The second method I am aware of is using one of the many lens scratch repair kits available online, but be sure to read the reviews to choose wisely before you purchase one.

Sony dcs-w370 cybershot hi, i didnt know that one isnt supposed to clean the lens with a cloth. i tried to wipe off a bit of dirt on my cam lens with my cotton t shirt. now whenever i take pictures,...

Welcome to FixYa.

Yes the lens can still be sorted out if you bring it to a camera shop. You can clean the camera lens but make sure to use a pure cotton fabric to avoid scratches. It might be coincidental but the blur might come from a moist inside the lens which can also be sorted out. Camera lens are not easily scratched or damaged just by wiping it with a cloth.

Thank you for using Fixya.

My Disc is sratch

Len cleaner and a soft cloth do not use cleanex as it has wood in it as a base and will scratch the cd more. Cd lens cleander works as well youy can find both at any major store.

If you want to reapir the scratched you can try the diskdoctor though I would not recommend it as it does resurface the disk and may damage it.

None of are disc will work and there the same disk also none of are disk have scratches or anything should we reset the we?im dont know what to do..

Probably the console's lens is damage, this causes the problem, as the lens is the tool for the wii to read games, if a lens is damage any game cannot work properly, find a local electronics or computer repair shop near you and let them have a look on it.

Scratched lense on 8x50, any idea where i can get (im in ireland)

The good news is that as your binoculars are a premier brand, there is extensive after-sales care and spares support so almost any fault can be repaired.

Scratched lenses can only be remedied by replacing the damaged lens; due to surface coatings on the lenses (both optical and Swarovski's exclusive non-stick coating) it's not possible to polish out the damage. Even if you could, it would alter the shape of the lens and therefore adversely affect it's optical properties.

The bad news is that a scratched lens is not covered by the manufacturer's 30 year warranty so you'll have to pay, and it won't be cheap! But it's definitely worthwhile in view of the extremely high price of the product when new.

You should click on this link to find out how to get the repairs done (or use this link if you're in the USA). Basically, the repairs are usually done by the Austrian factory except if you're in the USA .

Before having the binoculars repaired you need to consider whether the damage is functional or merely cosmetic. If it's the latter, then there's no need to have them repaired unless further damage occurs. If the damage actually affects the viewed image then it may still be acceptable if it's only infrequently evident (e.g. due to bright objects in the dark, or only when the Sun is at a particular angle).

Small scratch on front lens causing shadow on some photos, in particular on clear blue sky when a small area in the photo appears slightly deeper blue than the rest.

You have only two fix options:-

1. Get the front lens element replaced by Panasonic. This will be fairly expensive. Afterwards, buy and fit a skylight filter to protect the lens.

2. Buy a skylight filter to protect the front of the lens from further damage and use photo processing software to retouch the affected images. This won't necessarily cost much, but will be a real pain to have to do all the time.

Whatever you do, do not attempt to polish out the scratch as this will destroy the lens coatings and will also reshape the lens slightly ruining it's optical qualities.

Changer will not pickup and play any of loaded cds. Just keeps cycling.

Hi! Your problem usually happens when the lens of the CD player is not successful in reading the Disc loaded on the tray. The problem could be due to a badly damage (scratched, warped or cracked) CD or due to a dirty/damage Lens.
You may first try to clean the Lens of your CD player and hopefully it would work. There are many good CD Lens cleaner on the market today.

this shows that your cd is already damaged, the scratches might have hit the critical part. you said that some other cd's of yours have also scratches these are presumably minor scratches. its better if you purchase anew one. a damaged cd with deep scratches can damage the lense of your cd rom if you continously use this it would soon permanently damaged the lens
