SOURCE: Humax Tivo will not record to DVD

After the update to 1.15 I had to delete EVERY recording on the unit. After that, any new recordings would burn just fine. However, some have found that same failure even after a hard reboot (repower). Called Humax level-1 support and they suggested a replacement unit so I swapped it out. But I've since learned that TiVo "pushes" a DVD firmware patch (possible supplied by Humax) from 1.08 to 1.15 and that patch is the culprit. That patch is suppose to make the DVD burn at a higher spin rate. After talking with level-2 Humax support they heard of the problem and said "the unit is working as designed", meaning, the DVD drive manufacturer specs say the drive is capable of a faster burn rate. So now I have Humax DTR800 #2 and so-far-so-good, but TiVo hasn't pushed the patch onto the box yet!

Stop buffering/flickering when watching a video

Unless the device you are watching the video on is from the stone age, most equipment today is more than capable of streaming video. That said, the most common causes of video buffering/flickering are:

  1. Slow internet connection speed. DIal-up, DSL, and most of the lowest tier cable speed rates often cannot handle video streaming.
  2. Time of day. Watching video streams from places like Youtube during peak internet hours in your area will often cause buffering issues due to high demand on ISP bandwidth.
  3. Too many apps running/not enough memory available for the viewer app.

My phone keep buffering can you help me.

Hi
When you say your phone keeps buffering, I assume that you are watching, films, or clips on it over the Internet. Buffering s a symptom of an Internet connection that cannot download information fast enough for it to be displayed at normal speed. The playback therefore stops and "buffering" takes place until there is sufficient data on the phone for playback to resume until the next time it needs to stop and buffer the contents. If you cannot get a fast enough data signal, then you need to move around until you get the best signal on mobile broadband that you can.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

Problems streaming Netflix movies Continuously

There are a few things you can check. Mostly it is about how much demand you are using versus the service, and hardware you use, to provide it within your home.
The service level (bandwidth) is what you have purchased. This is a maximum and can go down considerably depending on time of day and who your provider is.
Do you have other users putting demand on your internet service - this may include neighbours who could be using your wireless internet if you do not have security turned on (ie password protected). Also if you have a lot of users, your wireless router may need to be upgraded to cope with the demand properly.
Is your tv wireless? This requires a good signal - if your router is far away within the house or buried behind heavy materials it may not be able to provide a 'fast enough' connection to your tv to stream your videos.
Netflix has 3 quality settings you can choose - if you have a lower internet service, the highest quality MAY be too much, especially if there are other users at the same time. Usually a 5 or 6 meg service can be at threshold for the highest quality setting depending on the 'actual' speed of your service at a given time.
To keep yourself happy while you resolve this, choose a lower quality setting on netflix - this should allow you to watch without it buffering all the time.
So what has changed since you got your tv? If the setup is all the same, then maybe you have more users. Check your security on your router. Has anything been moved? If so there is opportunity for cables to have been damages (or bad connectors) and also signal loss.
If you have a slower service, perhaps demand in your area at certain times is lowering your service enough to caused buffering issues.

I have the you tube app for my bb curve and when I go to watch a video it works for a bit then It stops and says its buffering every 2 or so minutes and when the video comes back on its all distorted and...

To watch Youtube on any device let alone on a mobile device requires you to have good bandwidth for your internet connection: when buffering occurs, it means that your device and web connection cannot keep up with the Video demands and can eventually get completely distorted, choppy ... and unusable! If you don't have a 3G/HSPA or fast Wifi, expect bad Youtube performance!

Can't get benefits of service because I lease TIVO thru cable co.

Your cable company is telling you that you do not have enought band width to download and use (VOD) Video On Demand.  They are unwilling to sell you, or your equiptment does not support such a high speed continuous download.  No.. Their is no way around it. Nextflix or Redbox may be alternitives for you.

TiVo stops recording

The problem is probably due to lack of available space on your Hard Drive.

Try deleting some programs you have saved as "Keep Until I Delete" and you should then be able to completely record the new programs.

Also, in case you didn't know, Tivo will NOT let you fill up the entire Hard Drive with programs you want to record, but rather, it keeps approx. 30 minutes of Hard Drive space for each tuner as a buffer so that in the case of a show you are watching live, you can go back and replay part of a show you have just seen.
