That's an expression, not an equation, which simplifies to 7x-5

This is not an equation. It is an expression in two variables. What you can do is to simplify it by combining like-terms (the terms with x)
1.5x +0.5y+0.2x This gives 1.7x+0.5y

What you want to do is solve the linear equation 2x=10 to find the value of the unknown x that makes the equality true. Solving an equation usually involves rearranging therms, factors and so on. However your calculator was not designed to handle the solution of equations, no matter how simple they are.

You cannot. The TI-30XA is a simple calculator lacking any symbolic algebra or equation processing. However, if your task is "given a value for x, what is the value for y" for the equation you give, you can rearrange it a little:



Thus, if you want to determine the value of y for x = 16, key in 5 [-] 16 [÷] 4 [=] and get the result y = 1. To double check, substitute x and y in the original equation:
16 + 4 x 1 = 16 + 4 = 20.

Do you mean as in a linear equation? If so it is simple the slope of the equation. If you are referring to an exponential equation the derivative is always changing so no.

I do not understand what you mean by solve complex equations, but if you want to manipulate complex numbers here are the tools you need to enter your complex numbers. Operations and function evaluations do not need special symbols.
