could you see the charging lights on green or orange?

could you feel any spins like HDD CDROM OR CPU FAN?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

If you are getting a power light on to the laptop, then it is getting power.

    The next thing to try.

Reseat the RAM module/s, so it will make proper electrical contact. Boot up the laptop, if there is still no responce, take out the RAM modules and test it in another laptop or take them to your friendly computer shop for them to test.

    Let me know what happens.

Can you hear the hard disk spinning?

Is there a very dim image on the screen when you view it at a sharp angle?

Connect an external monitor to the laptop, power up the monitor first and then the laptop, do you see the normal Windows image on the external monitor?

Get back to me with what you see and any error messages.

Turn off and unplug the power adapter.
Turn the laptop over and on the bottom of the laptop there are a couple of panels. Behind one of these panels is where the RAM module/s are located.
The RAM module/s are 68mm X 30mm and are held in place by spring loaded clips on the edges. Move the clips sideways and the modules will pop up. Remove them and insert it a couple of times and then push the module down until the clips click back in place.

Throw it in the Ganges from Babughat, with flower, sweet etc.

Then it will surely on, you must have to find it from inside the river.

How do i restore an ibm thinkpad laptop R51 PLEASE HELP

For restoration you must have the recovery software of your laptop to recover the system from its default settings. Assuming that you have that software you insert the cd or dvd into your cd or dvdrom drive. When turning on your computer press the boot selection key usually F11 or F12 then select the cd/dvd as your first boot and press enter. Then the recovery software will load and read the on screen instruction.

Second if you do not have the recovery softwarem, turn on your computer and tapping F8 key. By tapping the F8 will load the advance configuration and select safe mode by using arrow up or down key and press enter. When completely loading the windows to safe mode click start, programs, accessories, system tools and system restore. Ok on system restore go to date where restore example right now is march 16, go to february or january and click any date that avaible for restoration click next and click again next.

Today when I was using my IBM Thinkpad R51 the screen went black and the machine shut itself down. It restarted normally but after about 20 minutes did the same thing. I never got a warning or any kind...

your battery could be failing, thats the most obvious thing. Then you might have accidentaly set the sleep mode,if you have this facility in your software(most pc's do).you must just search through your soft to see if you have enabled this function--good luck!

How to go in safe mode?

Hello,

to go into safe mode, turn on your computer and constantly press F8 immediately. You will press the F8 button at the first black screen, that is, when your computer displays its log.

While pressing the F8, a windows option will be the next screen to appear, amongst the windows option, you will see safe mode there, use your keyboard arrow key to scroll to safe mode and press enter.

By now, your computer should be loading on safe mode.

Good luck.

Access built in owners manual.

If you just want to disable the wireless lan, you can go to the control panel, network connections, and right-click on the wireless connection icon. Click on "Disable". Re-enable it by going to the same place and click on "Enable".
In order for the "Access IBM" button to work you have to have the software installed. You can tell if it's installed by looking on the start menu under programs

Key board problem

Press FN (next to CTRL) and NmLk (probably above F11) simultaneously. This should return your keyboard to normal.
If that doesn't work, try SHIFT+NmLk and that may work as well.

Disable boot up password in R51

You could open up the R51 and remove the CMOS battery. This would reset the password.

Here is a link I found that allows one to hack the BIOS password:

Or try this fixya thread:
