Question about Televison & Video
My murphy Tv/Dvd player has this part installed and whichever disk is inserted it will come up "No Disk" Shall I need a replacement for this part to install?

you can try manually cleaning the laser lens ( gently wipe , do not press down hard , it is suspended by fine wires ) using a q-tip and a drop of that cleaning solution you got with the laser lens disc. ( fluff another q-tip a little ) then dry wipe it with another q-tip and try a disc.
you can look at the laser lens and see if you see the laser come on also to determine if that is working ( do not look directly into the laser ! )
if the laser works but it still does not read discs after cleaning it manually , then there is a problem with the focus coil on the laser or the signal board is bad

turn off and, unplug your DVD recorder remove the six screws holding on the top tilt the back of the top up disengage the front of the top and set it aside look for a small laser tag this will point to a 1/4 inch glass lense this is the laser taking rubbing alcohol on a q-tip gently clean the lense with a twirling circular motion

My last recommendation, before seeking a replace or repair; would be to run a cleaner disk. Optical drives can be affected by dust on the optical block lens or dust on the disk itself. Sometimes a dirty lens can even cause your drive to eject the disk when you try to read it. I just encountered the same problem. We've had our player for quite a while, but it seems like there ought to be a way to fix it from home. I don't mind taking it apart if that is needed, but I'd can't just buy a new one each time!
